Job Purpose:

This individual will be a seasoned expert in cloud technologies, responsible for architecting and overseeing cloud infrastructure at an organizational level. You will lead the design and implementation of complex cloud solutions, ensuring high availability, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with best practices. This individual role includes mentoring junior and mid-level engineers, driving innovation in cloud services, and maintaining the overall stability and scalability of cloud-based systems.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of complex and strategic cloud architectures that align with business goals.
  • Continuously optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness while driving automation initiatives.
  • Provide technical leadership to junior and mid-level cloud engineers, fostering their growth and promoting a culture of excellence.
  • Act as a senior engineer by coaching and mentoring more junior engineers, including identifying skill gaps, delegating tasks, explaining concepts and strategies, introducing new technologies, and reviewing code issues to develop the capability of the team and help ensure work is completed to industry and Symcor best practices and standards. Conduct peer reviews of development deliverables to ensure work is completed to industry and Symcor best practices and standards.

Requirements:

Education:

  • 3+ years of university or college in software engineering, computer science, information technology.

Experience:

  • 6+ years of experience in Cloud.

Skills:

  • Multicloud Proficiency: Advanced knowledge and experience in multiple cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) primary focus on Azure and the ability to design, implement, and manage multicloud environments for diverse business needs.
  • Advanced Automation: Experience of automation tools and practices, including advanced scripting (Python, PowerShell), infrastructure as code (ARM, Bicep, CloudFormation), and orchestration for complex, automated cloud deployments.
  • Cloud Security Expertise: In-depth understanding of cloud security (Microsoft defender for cloud), including identity and access management, data encryption, compliance frameworks, and the ability to design and implement robust, enterprise-grade security measures.
  • Containerization and Orchestration: Proficiency to support and manage container services and technologies infrastructure in cloud (e.g., Docker) and container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, ARO clusters) to manage and scale containerized applications in the cloud.
  • Advanced Networking: Expertise in cloud networking, including virtual private network / clouds (VPCs), advanced routing, network security groups, load balancers (Application Gateways, API management, Azure front door, Cloudflare), and hybrid cloud configurations.
  • Cost Optimization Strategies: The ability to analyze cloud cost data, implement advanced cost optimization strategies, and make informed decisions to ensure cost-effectiveness while maintaining performance and scalability.
