The Opportunity:

Support data storage infrastructure and identify, select, implement and/or maintain the appropriate backup/recovery tools to ensure continuous and efficient access to all data stored within Symcor IT Infrastructure. Monitor growth and performance trends to ensure sufficient data storage resources and capacity.

Hybrid work model: typically 2 days onsite per week (2–3 days per week during the first three months).LI-Hybrid

About The Role:

  • Review, monitor and maintain data storage and data storage back up infrastructure in accordance with the team’s daily checklist to ensure availability/reliability and prevent potential problems or incidents from arising.
  • Work with server teams as appropriate during maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with other Data Storage Specialists, System Administrators, Operations and Vendors to identify opportunities for improving management and automation capabilities.
  • Monitor infrastructure daily to ensure health, efficiency and stability.
  • Maintain an inventory of system and backup infrastructure components (server hardware, software licenses, maintenance life cycle).
  • Create and update knowledge base documents related to day to day processes and specialized procedures.
  • Reconcile active hosts with backup schedules.
  • Provision storage media
  • In collaboration with other Symcor support teams, participate in the planning, sizing, and/or implementation of funnel/project tasks related to new applications and/or infrastructure upgrades/refreshes to ensure business requirements are met.
  • Ensure data storage and data backup components comply with Symcor’s security and policy standards and take corrective action when required to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.
  • Review and action on vulnerability scans.
  • Provide action plans to resolve or define a compensating control where security gaps are found
  • Maintain and conduct quarterly review of high security zone communications through firewall appliances/tools.
  • Implement and follow PCI compliance rules.

What You Need to Succeed:

Education:

  • Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.

Experience:

  • 3 + year experience in managing (deploying, configuring, monitoring, troubleshooting) one or preferably all types of data storage (block, file, object) – Hitachi, Pure Storage and Cloudian products are preferred
  • 3+ year experience in managing (deploying, configuring, monitoring, troubleshooting) SAN switches/fabrics (Brocade/Broadcom and/or Cisco)
  • 3+ year experience in managing (deploying, configuring, monitoring, troubleshooting) one of Enterprise Backup and Archive systems – Commvault is preferred

Skill requirements

  • Knowledge of Data Storage (Primary Storage, SAN, Backup) and hands-on experience with administrating Windows, Linux Oss, hyperconverged infrastructure solutions – Cisco UCS is preferred
  • Possessing general knowledge and best practices of IT Infrastructure actors, objects and processes
  • Deep understanding and at least 1-year experience in managing one type of main Cloud platforms – Azure and OpenShift are preferred
  • Ability to write/debug scripts and programs that interface with vendor tools and/or monitoring platform
  • Working knowledge of Change/Release, Incident and Problem management processes.
