The Opportunity
The Business Systems Analyst 1 plays a critical role in the analysis, documentation, and enhancement of business processes and systems to support the efficient operation of the organization. Under direct supervision, this role leads smaller scope projects, performing basic research, analysis, fact finding, and documentation activities to meet project scope and requirements. This role will also be responsible to ensuring that projects meet the needs of stakeholders, including (but not limited) Operations, Product and External Clients.

About The Role:
- Work on assigned projects with limited scope, minimal to medium complexity and shorter duration. Assist with assessing feasibility and document requirements in order to ensure that the end product is clear and well-defined for project teams to move forward, aligned with Symcor’s strategic approach, and meets the needs of stakeholders.
- Facilitate requirements gathering sessions both internally and externally, ensuring that requirements are clearly stated and meet stakeholder’s needs.
- Facilitate discussions in the investigation and resolution of problems.
- Analyze and synthesize information to translate high level business requirements into functional specifications for input into application activities and distribute to project manager to obtain approval from appropriate stakeholders.
- Assist with the identification of risks and solutions to the project team to mitigate project risks.
- Schedule internal meetings, requirements gathering sessions and other project related activities with support from the Project Manager.
- Develop project deliverables, such as requirements documents or user stories, in compliance with applicable processes, methodologies and frameworks.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by reviewing other processes, methodologies and frameworks, collaborating with other team members, and referring to industry trends and best practices to identify ways to refine and improve them.
- Provide regular updates and assistance to Project Managers/Team Leads in order to ensure smooth and transparent planning and execution of project activities.
- Communicate project risks and solutions to the project team as appropriate.
- Assist in the preparation of presentations on initiatives as required.
- Provide support in all phases of the project (including, but not limited to, Quality Assurance testing and implementation) to ensure successful execution and delivery of projects meeting stakeholders’ business needs.
- Assist with providing estimates and supporting assumptions on projects and initiatives to ensure all components are covered and identify risk/gaps.
- Participate in implementation and planning activities, identifying tasks for a successful implementation as well as providing implementation and post implementation support as required.
- Update requirements documentation providing updated versions to the project team and upload to project site.
What You Need To Succeed:
Education:
- A bachelor's or master's degree in Business Administration, computer science, IT or a related field
Experience:
- 2+ years’ experience in working with requirements for software development or systems integration projects
- 2+ years of experience with the project life cycle (SDLC) and associated analytical techniques
- Experience working in the financial industry – specifically financial fraud prevention a plus
Skill Requirements:
- Working knowledge of standardized software development methodology (ie. Agile).
- Knowledge of Business Systems Analysis techniques, methodologies and approaches.
- Understanding of the concepts of project management methodologies (ie. Waterfall and Agile).
- Proficiency in the use of Atlassian suite of products (e.g. Jira and Confluence)
