As our Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for directing the day-to-day operation of the production areas by setting standards for performance and monitoring all Team Member activities. Led by the Manufacturing & Distribution Manager, this opportunity suits someone who is detail oriented and safety conscious with prior experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety legislation to ensure a safe working environment for all Team Members. Participate on the Health & Safety Committee and have monthly department meetings.
  • Ensure lines have all Team Members and raw materials required to fulfill the day’s orders. Step in and perform any plant duties when timetable or absence of regular staff requires it.
  • Take all appropriate actions to ensure compliance to the production schedule. Advise the manager and scheduling department should issues arise that may impact their ability to achieve the schedule.
  • Monitor line speed and adjust to meet production targets.
  • Ensure equipment is operating efficiently and follow up with maintenance on corrective action if required.
  • Throughout the day make quality checks to ensure product meets standards. Resolve any known quality issues pertaining to the batches being filled.
  • Recommend continuous improvement initiatives and ensure proper housekeeping within each department. Ensure that tools are maintained and put away at the end of each shift.
  • Monitor waste to ensure wet and dry are disposed of properly. Monitor spill supplies and order as required.
  • Ensure that daily cycle counts are completed accurately. Participate in inventory counts as required.
  • Ensure Team Members are fully aware of production performance levels/key performance indicators and provide them the opportunity to be involved in developing plans and actions to improve the measures.
  • Coach and mentor employees with the goal of assisting them to strengthen their overall performance.
  • Track and monitor hourly staff attendance and performance. Coordinate vacation time and personal time for department employees ensuring that there is adequate staff available to operate the required production lines.
  • Other duties can be assigned by manager.
We’re looking for:
  • University Degree or College Diploma in Business or related discipline.
  • 3-5 years experience in a supervisor or lead role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Industrial Establishments Reg 851.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word and Excel).
  • Ability to motivate, manage and provide direction to Team Members.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Lean and Continuous Improvement training and experience.
  • Forklift experience an asset.
