Jays Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Toronto Blue Jays, uses the power of baseball to create positive social change in communities across Canada. We are currently looking for passionate and dedicated staff to deliver our RBI programs in Toronto.
Our RBI programs include:

  • RBI Spring (April to June) – an inclusive baseball/softball program implemented in partnership with schools to remove any barriers that students may face getting into the game. This 10-week program runs afterschool for students in grades 4-8 to participate in weekly practices and organized games.
  • RBI Summer Edition (July to August) – an initiative that offers daily programming in July and August for over 2500 youth attending Toronto District School Board (TDSB) Elementary Summer School.

If interested, candidates are encouraged to apply for positions within both programs. Based on performance, successful RBI Spring staff will have the opportunity and be encouraged to continue working for RBI Summer Edition.

JAYS CARE RBI SUMMER EDITION SITE MANAGER
Jays Care is looking for Site Managers to lead and empower staff team to engage youth (ages 6-13) in creative, fun, and dynamic activities during our Jays Care RBI Summer Edition program. Successful applicants will have experience leading recreational programs and working with children.

All interested applicants should be aware that this is an in-person role, employed by Jays Care with a seasonal fixed-term contract. Camp staff are expected to be present at their designated job site each day of their summer contract, as well as attend all mandatory staff training.

REPORTS TO: Program Manager, RBI Summer Edition
CONTRACT DURATION: March 1, 2025 – August 13, 2025

  • 10 hours/month (March to May)
  • 24-40 hours/week (June)
  • 35-40 hours/week (July to August)

PAY: $35/hour
WORK LOCATIONS: Assigned to one of our host schools within the TDSB (Toronto District School Board) (applicant will have opportunity to indicate location preference once sites are identified in March 2025).
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Applications will be accepted until Sunday, November 15 at 11:59 pm. Applications will be processed and reviewed as they are received. Interviews will be offered on a rolling basis.

Jays Care RBI Summer Edition Site Manager will:

  • Serve as site leader, overseeing approximately 200 youth participants and 50 seasonal staff
  • Supervise and develop seasonal staff, including training workshops and in-season evaluations
  • Connect with participant families for updates about day-to-day programming and addressing any behavioural needs or challenges
  • Oversee site logistics relating to site supplies, travel, food
  • Liaise with TDSB site staff (caretakers, administrators)
  • Lead any off-site trips for campers as designated trip supervisor
  • Working alongside Site Administrator, ensure all administrative duties are completed, reviewed and organized
  • Assist with the collection of data from online and in-person feedback surveys
  • Review material resources and protocols to ensure accuracy and that we are meeting all health and safety procedures
  • Assist with camper recruitment, including distribution of virtual and printed marketing materials, phone calls to prospective families and attending in-person open house events
  • Consult with RBI Summer Edition Management on overall program leadership
  • Serve as a role model; providing leadership, problem solving strategies, mentoring staff, and participating youth, creating a warm, safe, and welcoming presence in all encounters with staff, youth, and caring adults
  • Participate in a dynamic training to provide you with all the tools needed to lead a positive and safe program environment
  • Ensuring that effective safety protocols are followed, including physical, emotional, and site safety measures
  • Address any behaviour concerns at once using Jays Care RBI Summer Edition behaviour management protocols and guidelines


Our Ideal Candidate:

  • 7+ years leadership experience in a youth-centred environment (sports teams, camps, schools, clubs)
  • Experience working with children and youth who face significant barriers to accessing sport and recreation opportunities
  • Experience playing and/or coaching baseball/softball or any other sports (whether you have little or extensive baseball/softball experience, all staff will be trained to feel comfortable and prepared for the role)
  • Dynamic leader who can engage with staff and caring adults
  • Ability to respond to new and changing situations
  • Safe, inclusive, and thoughtful
  • Open-minded and able to accommodate the needs of a diverse population
  • Capable of leading large teams, and mediating interpersonal team dynamics
