Enterprise Architect, Principal

At Interac, we design and deliver products and solutions that give Canadians control over their money so they can get more out of life. But that’s not all. Whether we’re leading real-time money movement, driving innovative commerce solutions like open payments for transit systems, or making advancements in new areas like verification and open banking, we are playing a key role in shaping the future of the digital economy in Canada.

The Enterprise Architect, Principal—reporting to the Leader, Architecture—will be deployed to a Product Line (PL) to support its objectives and guide it on a multi-year journey for technology transformation. Working directly with the PL leadership and owners, the Architect will ensure the backlog includes what is necessary to meet enterprise objectives and help prioritize related work into release plans that both deliver business value and support technology transformation over time. We want YOU, because you have contributed directly to similar work in the past, and can draw on your experiences to act as a mentor within the architecture practice, helping everyone raise their game to deliver both business and enterprise value at the same time.

The successful candidate will have deep experience in product / application delivery. You may even be in a delivery role right now. That’s fine with us. With this kind of experience under your belt, we will support you to develop into a new kind of “enterprise architect” that is far from the old school ivory tower types that go by the same name. At Interac, the expectation will be to blend engineering with design and architecture in this role to shift architecture left in the SDLC, reducing the need for review cycles by providing agile development teams with solutions they can drop directly into their products and platforms from day one to be “pre-compliant” with enterprise standards. It’s a different kind of mindset for architects. And so we’re looking for a different kind of candidates here. If this is an exciting proposition for you, and you feel like you could dive right in to helping us establish this new kind of architecture practice, give us a call. We want to hear from you!

You'll be responsible for:

  • Comprehensive architectural support for a primary Product Line (PL), and a backup PL.

  • Product/application analysis - Domain Driven Design (DDD) is a plus.

  • Partnering with PL leadership and owners on backlog population, curation, prioritization, and release planning across multiple squads.

  • Managing architectural requirements in platform backlogs.

  • Technical debt tracking and remediation planning.

  • Conducting well architected reviews and map findings to remediation's in the backlog.

  • Contribution to, and leadership within, working groups tasked with continuous, iterative cross-PL product convergence and platform standardization.

  • Curating/incubating/prototyping/delivering new potentially shared capabilities in partnership with your aligned PL team and others in the architecture practice.

  • Prototyping/POC patterns, create docs/cookbooks, and executable code.

  • Product-to-platform dependency tracking.

  • Providing executive & program advice and consulting.

  • Governing architectural and decision quality.

You bring:

  • Experience as a practiced Information Technology professional for more than 8 years.

  • At least 5 years of experience on teams delivering and designing software applications.

  • Eligibility to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a full-time capacity.

  • Recent and in-depth experience architecting, designing, POCing, prototyping, and testing technology products and/or platforms on cloud platforms (e.g. Microsoft Azure and AWS) and on premise.

  • Experience working on online transaction processing solutions with very high availability and resilience expectations.

Interac requires employees to complete a background check that is completed by one of our service providers. We use this service to complete the following checks:

  • Canadian criminal record check;
  • Public safety verification;

  • 5-year employment verification;
  • Education verification; and
  • If applicable, Credit Inquiry and Social Media Check
