Governance, Risk and Compliance Intern

Reporting to the Leader, Governance, Risk & Compliance, the Governance, Risk and Compliance Intern will have an opportunity to dive into a world of information security and participate in cyber security activities in a real work environment. The Governance, Risk and Compliance Intern will work with cross functional teams to maintain security posture of the organization, including adherence to Cyber Security Framework and Industry best security practices and cyber regulatory requirements.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Supporting and delivering against the Interac Cyber Security Roadmap objectives (GRC, Identity Access Management, SOC, Incident Response)
  • Learning and documenting processes and technologies that we use at Interac
  • Working with technologies used in real organizations, such as GRC Tooling, IAM Solutions, SIEM solutions, AV tools, firewalls, IDS/IPS, WAF and others
  • Supporting the Governance, Risk and Compliance team which enables Information Security to align information security strategy with the business, drive a risk aware culture, and provide management with objective risk and compliance information on which to base decision-making
  • Working with the Identity and Access Management team, which is responsible for how users at Interac Corp. will be provided access to networks, systems and applications
  • Collaborating with the Security Operations team which defines, oversees, and delivers effective technology security operations practices and capability across the organization, to protect and secure Interac’s assets and ensure compliance with standards.

You bring:

  • You are currently enrolled in a university or college program in a relevant discipline, such as Computer science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Information Security or a similar field
  • You are familiar with Information Security Control Policies and industry standards
  • Solid problem solving, communication, and analytical skills, including technical and business writing
  • Excellent technical skills
  • You are passionate about IT, specifically information security and want to build a career in InfoSec
  • You want to make the world a better place by protecting organizations from cyber threats
  • Understanding that success is in the details. You notice things that others don't. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making
  • You enjoy investigating complex problems, analysis and making sense of information. You're confident in your ability to communicate detailed information in an impactful way.
  • Although not required, having experience with the following is considered an asset:
    • Identity Access Management/Privileged Access Management solutions such as Sailpoint, Saviynt, CyberArk
    • Ticketing applications such as ServiceNow and Jira
    • Advancing continuous improvement agendas including process documentation
    • Risk Management/ Risk Assessment and GRC Tooling such as AuditBoard (Cross Comply and Risk Module)
    • Third-Party Risk Management Information

Workstyle: Hybrid*

Location: Toronto

Term: Sept - December 2024

Duration: Monday - Friday

*Must be eligible to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a Full Time Capacity
