IBM
Software Engineering
Budapest, Hungary
The Cloud Data Services team is responsible for developing and operating the Databases as a Service in IBM Cloud. We build a customized platform on Kubernetes that hosts a breadth of database technologies, such as PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, MySQL, MongoDB, RabbitMQ, or Kafka.
We are seeking cloud developers who have a passion for automating, running, and operating secure, highly-available databases. You will write tooling that enable troubleshooting and self-healing, build containers, develop tests, define best practices, and work complex client escalations. You must have an understanding in software development, be self-driven, innovative, and passionate about automating everything to reduce operational toil.
It is not required to be a databases expert - but you must have a passion for learning to be successful in this role. At the end, you can be a subject matter expert on cloud and databases.
Beyond simply leveraging these tools, you will have the opportunity—and encouragement—to actively contribute back to the open source community by improving features, fixing issues, and collaborating with global contributors.
You will join our “follow-the-sun" rotation where you will be the primary responder for automated system alerts, and level 3 escalations for support. This duty is limited to 6 hours during daytime and includes some weekends. The rotation consists of all staff in our European region to reduce rotation frequency. You will follow runbooks to resolve such issues and use your troubleshooting and analytical skills to diagnose or troubleshoot platform or Data Service issues.
