In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.

Your role and responsibilities

As an Infrastructure Specialist for the Red Hat OpenShift Platform, you will manage and implement Red Hat OpenShift-based infrastructure solutions according to established designs, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security. You will collaborate with IT teams to implement and integrate OpenShift infrastructure solutions based on existing designs.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Set up and Configure OpenShift Clusters: Set up, configure, and manage OpenShift clusters, storage solutions, networking, and databases to effectively support business applications. This includes implementing and overseeing essential OpenShift resources such as namespaces, Persistent Volumes, and Network Policies.
  • Monitor and Troubleshoot OpenShift Infrastructure: Continuously monitor OpenShift infrastructure, troubleshoot issues, and maintain high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) configurations to ensure reliable performance.
  • Apply Security Measures: Apply and enforce security measures to ensure OpenShift infrastructure complies with organizational policies and industry regulations.
  • Optimize Costs: Optimize costs by right-sizing resources, developing cost-effective solutions, and monitoring usage patterns.
  • Automate Processes: Use automation tools like Ansible and Terraform to automate and streamline processes, applying experience with DevOps practices such as continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).

Required technical and professional expertise
  • Very good understanding of Containers and Orchestration fundamentals.
  • Must have hands on experience in setting up and configuring Kubernetes platform. Hands on experience with Red Hat OpenShift.
  • Experience in developing deployment scripts for Kubernetes based micro-services.
  • Practical experience of implementing end to end Continuous Integration/Delivery solutions in Kubernetes environment.
  • Very good understanding and experience on Helm charts and Kustomize for Kubernetes manifest management.
  • Demonstrated ability architecting and implementing GitOps-based deployment pipelines using ArgoCD.
  • Experience with problem determination, root cause analysis and debugging in Kubernetes/OpenShift environment
  • Good experience working with tools like Git.
Preferred technical and professional experience
  • Knowledge of cloud native design patterns, processes, and best practices.
  • Basic knowledge on network configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and using Terraform for as infra as code setup.
  • Knowledge of Container and Kubernetes security tools.
  • Experience working in Banking Industry.
  • Experience creating automation using scripts (shell/perl/python etc) and using tools like ansible/Chef/Puppet.
  • Experience implementing advanced CI/CD patterns: blue-green deployments, canary releases, and progressive delivery strategies
