Your role and responsibilities

We are seeking for an SAP S/4HANA Indirect Tax Implementation Senior Managing Consultant to join our growing team. This role requires a unique blend of deep indirect tax expertise, SAP technical knowledge, and consulting acumen. You will lead tax workstreams on complex S/4HANA implementations, bridging the gap between tax compliance requirements and system configuration.

Sales and Delivery
Beyond project and program management of SAP implementations, act in a lead capacity on transformation and optimization initiatives including IBM Rapid Discovery and IBM Garage workshops and assessments, develop proposals, and provide customer guidance and direction as a trusted business advisor.

You will support sales at key accounts by assisting with the scoping, solutioning, program planning and driving RFPs around SAP and Finance Transformation for TruQua. This will be required to support sales and go-to-market activities for SAP, which will include writing and shaping proposals and presenting at Orals. You will support delivery teams as a techno-functional subject matter expert (SME) for ongoing SAP programs and help kickoff and plan new ones.

The will bring professional leadership experience in businesses where service, quality and customer responsiveness are tantamount to success. The SAP S/4HANA Indirect Tax Implementation Senior Managing Consultant can draw from past hands-on experience to grow our practice and capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead indirect tax implementation workstreams on large-scale SAP S/4HANA projects from design through go-live

- Configure and optimize indirect tax functionality across SAP FI, SD, and MM modules

- Design and implement tax determination solutions, including integration with third-party tax engines (Vertex, OneSource, Avalara, etc.)

- Analyze complex indirect tax requirements across multiple jurisdictions and translate them into system specifications

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including tax professionals, SAP technical consultants, and client stakeholders

- Drive consensus and problem-solve among diverse stakeholder groups with competing priorities

- Lead and mentor junior consultants within the tax implementation space

- Conduct fit-gap analyses and recommend best practice solutions for indirect tax processes

- Research and independently develop understanding of indirect tax regulations across various countries

- Support testing, training, and change management activities related to tax processes.

Required education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise

- Minimum 5 years of consulting experience with at least two end-to-end SAP implementations (design to go-live)

- Minimum 1 year (ideally 3+ years) as a tax business user with strong background in indirect tax and accounting processes

- Minimum 1 year (ideally 3+ years) as an SAP user with working knowledge of FI, SD, and MM modules

- Minimum 1 year** (ideally 3+ years) working with tax engines (Vertex, Avalara, SAP Tax Service, or similar)

Technical Skills

- Basic to intermediate understanding of SAP S/4HANA architecture and indirect tax functionality

- Experience with Vertex products and implementations

- Knowledge of tax determination procedures and configuration in SAP

- Experience with tax engine integration and middleware solutions

- Understanding of master data requirements for tax compliance (customer/vendor records, material master, tax codes)

Tax Knowledge

- Deep understanding of indirect tax regulations (VAT, GST, sales tax, use tax, etc.) and practical application for at least one country

- Proven ability to research and quickly understand indirect tax regulations in new jurisdictions

- Strong grasp of tax accounting principles and their impact on business processes


Soft Skills

- Excellent leadership and team management capabilities

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to drive consensus

- Outstanding communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences

- Ability to work collaboratively in large, matrixed project environments

- Client-facing consulting skills with proven ability to build relationships.

Preferred technical and professional experience

- SAP certification in relevant modules (FI, SD, or MM)

- Certified implementer for at least one tax engine (Vertex, OneSource, etc.)

- Experience with S/4HANA migrations from ECC

- Knowledge of country-specific tax solutions (CIN for India, Brazil tax, EU VAT, etc.)

- Experience with Agile/SAP Activate methodology

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or related field.

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
