Your role and responsibilities

## Key Responsibilities

### Platform Administration & Support (40%)

- Assist in the installation, configuration, and upgrade of IBM Cloud Pak for Data components

- Monitor platform health, performance metrics, and system alerts using CP4D monitoring tools

- Support user onboarding, access management, and role assignments within CP4D

- Help maintain platform documentation including runbooks, procedures, and configuration guides

- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as log rotation, cleanup, and health checks

- Assist in troubleshooting platform issues and escalate complex problems to senior administrators

- Support backup and recovery operations for CP4D metadata and configurations

### Service Management (25%)

- Manage CP4D service instances (Watson Studio, Watson Machine Learning, Data Virtualization, etc.)

- Assist in provisioning and configuring data services for project teams

- Monitor service resource utilization (CPU, memory, storage) and report capacity issues

- Support integration of external data sources and connections

- Help manage service catalogs and deployment spaces

- Assist in service upgrades and patch management

### User Support & Collaboration (20%)

- Provide first-level support for CP4D users and data scientists

- Assist users with platform access, project creation, and resource allocation

- Create and maintain user guides and knowledge base articles

- Respond to support tickets and track issues to resolution

- Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and application teams

- Participate in user training sessions and platform demonstrations

### Monitoring & Maintenance (15%)

- Monitor OpenShift cluster health and CP4D namespace resources

- Track storage utilization and assist in capacity planning

- Review system logs and identify potential issues proactively

- Assist in performance tuning and optimization activities

- Support disaster recovery testing and documentation

- Maintain inventory of CP4D components, versions, and licenses

Required education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise

### Education

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or related field

- Recent graduates or candidates with equivalent technical training/certifications considered

### Technical Skills

**Cloud Pak for Data (Foundational)**

- Basic understanding of IBM Cloud Pak for Data architecture and components

- Familiarity with CP4D web interface and administration console

- Knowledge of CP4D services (Watson Studio, Watson Machine Learning, Data Virtualization, DataStage)

- Understanding of CP4D user roles and permissions model

**Container & Orchestration (Required)**

- Basic knowledge of Kubernetes/OpenShift concepts (pods, deployments, services, namespaces)

- Understanding of containerization principles and Docker basics

- Basic understanding of YAML configuration files

**Operating Systems**

- Linux fundamentals (RHEL, CentOS, or Ubuntu)

- Basic shell scripting (bash) for automation tasks

- File system navigation and permissions management

Preferred technical and professional experience

**Databases & Data (Preferred)**

- Basic SQL knowledge

- Understanding of relational databases (Db2, PostgreSQL)

Certifications (Highly Preferred):

IBM Cloud Pak for Data Administrator/Deployment Professional

Red Hat OpenShift Administration (EX280), RHCA, RHCE

CKA, CKAD, CKS

AWS/Azure/GCP Solutions Architect

ITIL, Terraform, Docker certifications

Scripting & Automation:

Shell scripting (Bash, PowerShell) - 4+ years

Python - 3+ years

REST APIs, YAML, JSON
