Introduction

A Maximo Delivery Consultant within Expert Labs is a senior practitioner responsible for leading the design, delivery, and optimization of IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS) and enterprise asset management (EAM) solutions. This role combines deep technical expertise with strong functional knowledge, driving client outcomes through solution architecture, implementation leadership, and advisory services.

The consultant partners with clients, sales, and delivery teams to ensure successful engagements, accelerate value realization, and promote best practices across industries.

Your role and responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Client Delivery & Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of Maximo/MAS implementations, upgrades, and transformations
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to client stakeholders (IT, Operations, Asset Management leaders)
  • Own solution quality, delivery timelines, and client satisfaction
  • Lead workshops, requirements gathering, and solution design sessions
  • Mentor junior consultants and guide delivery teams across workstreams

Solution Architecture & Design

  • Define scalable, secure, and high-performing Maximo architectures (on-prem, cloud, hybrid)
  • Translate business requirements into functional and technical solution designs
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, integration standards, and governance
  • Provide thought leadership on MAS capabilities (Manage, Monitor, Health, Predict, etc.)

Implementation & Optimization

  • Oversee configuration, customization, and deployment of Maximo solutions
  • Drive best practices across asset lifecycle management, work management, and maintenance planning
  • Lead data migration, testing, and cutover strategies
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and digital transformation

Sales & Practice Development

  • Support pre-sales activities (solutioning, SOW development, client presentations)
  • Contribute to Expert Labs offerings, accelerators, and reusable assets
  • Participate in knowledge sharing, innovation initiatives, and internal enablement

Technical Capabilities

Maximo / EAM Expertise

  • Deep expertise in IBM Maximo / Maximo Application Suite (MAS 9.x and 7.6.x)
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Work Management
    • Asset & Location Management
    • Preventive Maintenance (PM)
    • Inventory & Procurement
    • Service Management
  • Experience configuring Maximo applications, workflows, escalations, and security

Architecture & Integration

  • Experience designing and implementing:
    • Maximo Integration Framework (MIF)
    • REST/SOAP APIs
    • Integration with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle)
    • IoT platforms and asset monitoring solutions
  • Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns and middleware (e.g., MQ, Kafka)

Cloud & Infrastructure

  • Experience with MAS deployment on:
    • Red Hat OpenShift
    • Public clouds (AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud)
  • Understanding of containerization, Kubernetes, and DevOps practices
  • Familiarity with system performance tuning and scalability

Data & Analytics

  • Experience with:
    • Data migration tools and strategies
    • Reporting (BIRT, Cognos, Power BI, etc.)
    • Asset performance analytics and predictive maintenance concepts

Development & Customization

  • Proficiency in:
    • Java / J2EE
    • Automation scripts (Jython, JavaScript)
    • Maximo customization frameworks
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues

Functional Capabilities

Industry Domain Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of asset-intensive industries such as:
    • Utilities
    • Oil & Gas
    • Manufacturing
    • Transportation
  • Familiarity with asset lifecycle management and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM)

Business Process Expertise

  • Ability to design and optimize:
    • Maintenance and operations workflows
    • Supply chain and inventory processes
    • Field service and mobile workforce enablement
  • Experience aligning Maximo solutions to business KPIs and operational outcomes

Consulting & Advisory Skills

  • Strong requirements elicitation and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to translate technical capabilities into business value
  • Experience leading business process transformation initiatives

Change Management

  • Support organizational change and user adoption strategies
  • Deliver training and enablement programs for users and administrators

Required education
High School Diploma/GED
Preferred education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
  • 8 - 12+ years of experience in EAM/Maximo implementations
  • Proven track record leading large-scale Maximo/MAS deployments
  • Strong combination of technical and functional consulting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
Preferred technical and professional experience
  • IBM Maximo certifications (e.g., Deployment Professional, Functional Analyst)
  • Experience with MAS 8.x and OpenShift deployments
  • Industry certifications or domain expertise (e.g., utilities, oil & gas)
  • Experience working in consulting or professional services environments

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
