Your role and responsibilities

An AI Engineer at IBM is not just a job title - it's a mindset. You'll leverage the watsonx platform to co-create AI value with clients, focusing on technology patterns to enhance repeatability and delight clients. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Build pilots, prototypes, agent workflows for client POC: Engage in developing AI services and deploying AI platform to solve real-world business problems in various industries using the IBM watsonx platform. This involves covering all stages of the AI solution lifecycle and Co-lead technical workshops withs ales team as well.
  • Cover AI Solution Lifecycle: Perform tasks across the AI solution lifecycle, including Data Engineering, Train, Validate, Tune, Deploy, AI Operations, and AI Governance to create a trusted end-to-end AI solution.

Day-to-Day Duties:

  • AI-Native PoC Development: Design and implement AI-native Proofs of Concept (PoCs) and agentic workflows using platforms such as watsonx Orchestrate and IBM BoB to demonstrate tangible business value. Collaborate with product and cross-functional teams to develop scalable, repeatable solution patterns and rapidly iterate on architectures to accelerate adoption and long-term success.
  • Client Engagement and Technical Wins: Engage closely with enterprise clients to identify strategic business priorities, technical challenges, and unmet needs, and convert them into actionable AI solution strategies that drive technical success and business impact.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Document solution architectures, key design decisions, implementation details, and lessons learned in a structured manner. Produce technical documentation, white papers, and best practice guides, while contributing to internal knowledge sharing and capability development across the organization.

Industry Trends and Innovation: Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in Agentic AI, foundation models, and large language models. Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks to assess their potential impact on solution design and implementation.

Required technical and professional expertise
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong Python programming skills and solid software engineering fundamentals, including hands-on development experience in Git and Linux environments
  • Good understanding of machine learning and deep learning fundamentals, with hands-on experience using frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras
  • Understanding of Foundation Models and Large Language Models (LLMs), with hands-on experience or project experience in NLP, text analytics, or related areas
  • Basic knowledge of data engineering principles and practices to support the development and deployment of AI systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to approach technical challenges in a structured way and a strong willingness to learn new technologies
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Fluent in Korean and proficient in English, sufficient for business communication and collaboration
Preferred technical and professional experience
  • Public technical contributions, such as research papers, technical blog posts, or open-source contributions
  • Experience integrating AI systems or connecting AI agents with business systems using OpenAPI, MCP (Model Context Protocol), or similar technologies
  • Hands-on or project experience with Generative AI and Agentic AI using LLM orchestration frameworks such as LangChain or LangGraph, including agent architecture, tool use, multi-step reasoning, and workflow design
  • Understanding of metrics and evaluation methodologies for model performance, retrieval quality, and agent behavior
  • Experience with or understanding of collaborative development methodologies such as Agile and Scrum
  • Understanding of or hands-on experience with Docker- and Kubernetes-based cloud-native environments
  • Experience with enterprise Kubernetes platforms such as Red Hat OpenShift
  • Experience deploying and operating AI/ML workloads or applications on public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
