Your role and responsibilities

In this role you will join IBM Consulting via our world class Associate Program for university hires. As an Associate at IBM Consulting you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients worldwide. Our clients' technical and business needs are constantly evolving. As an Associate Application Developer with DevOps skills at IBM, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, and managing popular DevOps automation tools on both cloud and non-cloud infrastructure. You will utilize your understanding of the project and application context to tailor the DevOps tools accordingly. Your primary responsibilities will include: • Install and Configure DevOps Tools: Install, configure, and manage popular DevOps automation tools on both cloud and non-cloud infrastructure, tailoring the tools to meet the specific needs of the project and application. • Set Up Continuous Integration: Set up continuous integration for automated and continuous builds, creating build scripts and versioning to ensure seamless deployment of applications. • Deploy Applications: Package and deploy applications on servers, ensuring efficient and reliable delivery of software solutions. • Establish Continuous Testing: Establish continuous testing to ensure high-quality software delivery, utilizing your understanding of software engineering processes and DevOps best practices. • Apply SDLC Methodologies: Apply SDLC methodologies to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices, demonstrating a solid foundation in software engineering processes.

Required technical and professional expertise

• Exposure to DevOps Automation Tools: Familiarity with installing, configuring, and managing popular DevOps automation tools on cloud and non-cloud infrastructure. • Understanding of Continuous Integration: Experience working with continuous integration for automated and continuous builds, including creating build scripts and versioning. • Software Engineering Processes: Exposure to software engineering processes, coding languages such as Java, Shell, and Python, and DevOps best practices. • SDLC Methodologies: Familiarity with SDLC methodologies and their application in ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices. • Cloud and Non-Cloud Infrastructure: Experience working with both cloud and non-cloud infrastructure, including deploying applications on servers.

Preferred technical and professional experience

• Proficiency in Scripting Languages: Experience working with scripting languages such as Java, Shell, and Python is beneficial for this role, enabling the development of efficient automation scripts and build processes. • Knowledge of Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, including deploying applications on cloud servers, is advantageous for adapting DevOps tools to cloud-based environments. • Understanding of Testing Frameworks: Exposure to testing frameworks and methodologies is desirable, allowing for the establishment of comprehensive continuous testing processes.
