Your role and responsibilities

IBM Fusion is an Enterprise Container-Native Storage Solution for OpenShift. It is purpose-built, hyper-converged architecture designed to deploy bare metal Red Hat OpenShift container management and deployment software alongside IBM Spectrum Fusion software. For consistent and rapid deployment and management, it features an appliance form-factor, hyper-converged infrastructure along with integrated software-defined storage to meet the storage requirements of modern, stateful Kubernetes applications. Built with a storage platform that includes the essential elements necessary for mission-critical containers and hybrid cloud, the IBM Storage Fusion provides a comprehensive infrastructure with compute, networking, and storage resources, including a data platform and global data services for Red Hat OpenShift.

As a member of the Network Development Team, you will be a major contributor to the development of support for network devices within IBM Fusion, adjusting for high performance workloads, and integration with customer networks. You will be responsible for the creation of designs, development of implementation, and construction of test automation. You will be expected to provide guidance to less experienced team members on networking concepts and development best practices. You will also be expected to apply AI technologies to accelerate the development of solutions and resolution of issues identified in the field.

Required technical and professional expertise

8–12 years of professional experience in software development.
Strong programming expertise in Golang (preferred) and Python.
Good understanding of data structures and algorithms for efficient code development.
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, and containerized environments.
Good understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, etc.).
Good network troubleshooting skills
Comfortable working with Linux and version control systems (Git).
Ability to own and deliver features end-to-end, including design, coding, testing, and deployment.
Strong system design and architectural skills for building scalable solutions.
Attention to code quality, performance optimization, and maintainability.
Ability to design and curate comprehensive test cases and plans to ensure robust coverage and quality of developed features.
Experience working on network-aligned areas such as SDN, NFV, or network automation.

Preferred technical and professional experience

Experience working with networking concepts and technologies such as switching, routing, and related protocols.
Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
Experience with APIs (REST, gRPC) and structured data formats (JSON, YAML).

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
