Your role and responsibilities

IBM Technology Client Engineering provides speed-to-value and innovation for our clients. We embed the IBM Garage methodology into the sales cycle to co-create and co-execute an initial iteration of an MVP with the purpose to land and grow our hybrid cloud platforms and establish IBM's technical eminence and expertise with our clients. We are a "demonstration and innovation team" that will prove IBM's technology and services through co-creation. This Garage experience will validate the particular technology or solution approach that leads to meaningful business outcomes for the client and grows IBM's hybrid cloud platform.

To be successful in this role of Platform Engineer you will need to:

  • Employ IBM's Design Thinking to architect and develop novel MVPs (Minimum Viable Products) that demonstrate value-driven user experiences; prioritize rapid prototyping to validate performance, security, and stability concepts before broader integration.
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset and continuous learning; stay current on IBM strategy and offerings with a deep understanding of technical principles such as Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and systems-thinking skills; possess a keen desire to solve complex technical challenges and orchestrate innovative solutions within an Agile framework.
  • Design and architect innovative component-level prototypes in areas such as cloud foundation, cloud services, cloud management applications, machine learning, and security applications to prove technical viability.
  • Use DevOps practices and automated methods to plan, deploy, and iterate on experimental software applications and architectural frameworks
Required education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
  • At least 1 year hands-on experience (e.g., via internships or projects) in managing, operating, and troubleshooting Docker or Kubernetes environments.
  • Experience in building and deploying on Public Cloud platforms, leveraging IaC and RESTful APIs to automate infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement the deployment/configuration of opensource/enterprise software.
  • Focus on designing and implementing automated DevOps workflows that integrate CI / CD best practices to deliver rapid technical validations.
Preferred technical and professional experience
  • Experience in client-facing roles or environments, with the ability to foster collaborative client relationships through technical demonstration.
  • At least 1 year experience of managing and operating on-premises or CSP IT environments
  • Familiarity with Agile practices in either a professional or intensive academic environment.
  • Direct experience with managing and operating OpenShift (OCP) environments.
