In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.

Your role and responsibilities

As a Security Architect with a Security Solution Design Specialty, you will play a crucial role in supporting engagement pursuit teams in complex, multi-tower, cross-line of business, and international bids. You will utilize your area subject matter expertise to design and implement security solutions that meet the specific needs of our clients. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Define Security Subsystem Architecture: Define the Security Subsystem and Security solution architecture, integrating security across the technical and business solution to ensure the right level of security and protection for clients' businesses.

• Evaluate Solution Components: Evaluate and select solution components, designing hardware, software, process, and service components that meet the specific needs of our clients.

• Support Sales Efforts: Support sales efforts directly with the client, ensuring deployment architectures for complex, competitive, winning, integrated solutions.

• Perform Requirements Gathering: Perform requirements gathering to understand the specific security needs of our clients and design solutions that meet those needs.

• Design Security Solutions: Design and implement security solutions that meet the specific needs of our clients, ensuring the right level of security and protection for their businesses.

Required technical and professional expertise

• Lead and perform security architecture reviews, defining defense‑in‑depth controls and providing consulting across SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS cloud services, with a strong focus on secure-by-design architectures in complex enterprise environments.
• Conduct threat modeling and security design reviews to assess risks, security implications, and requirements for the introduction of new technologies, services, and solutions, applying recognized security industry best practices.
• Design, research, and implement security architectures and process improvements in close collaboration with other Security Architects, while leading security initiatives and principles toward adoption across the organization.
• Architect secure solutions across public and hybrid cloud platforms (IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, GCP), leveraging containerization and orchestration technologies (Kubernetes) and microservices architectures in modern cloud-native environments.
• Apply deep expertise in enterprise security technologies and controls, including vulnerability management, container and web application security, IAM, secure network and database design, authentication, logging, cryptography, secure storage, and data protection, aligned with frameworks such as ISO 27000, OWASP, NIST, CIS Controls, CSA CCM, and SOC 2.

Preferred technical and professional experience

• Security Consulting Experience: Exposure to providing security consulting services, including security assessments and security solution implementation, would be beneficial in this role.
• Industry Security Standards: Familiarity with industry security standards and regulations, such as data protection and compliance, would be an asset in designing and implementing security solutions.
• Enterprise Security Architecture: Experience working with enterprise security architecture, including security strategy and roadmap development, would be valuable in this position.
