IBM
IBM Storage is enabling businesses to bring AI to their most sensitive data, deriving greater value from it while simplifying security, monitoring, and management. We create product experiences that enable knowledge workers to feel confident at work and grow their careers while managing mission-critical workloads for the world’s leading organizations.
We are seeking a manager for our content team to lead the documentation for a portfolio of storage products. This manager will execute the documentation strategy outlined by the strategic Head of Content that focuses on key differentiators like improving initial product adoption, simplifying management and upgrades, increasing support efficiency, and driving net revenue retention.
As Content Manager, you will define the objectives, build and execute the plan for the comprehensive documentation strategy aligned with IBM Storage product vision and user experience goals. You will lead a team of technical writers and automation engineers to deliver content that increases customer satisfaction and reduces toil by increasing automation.
Key responsibilities include:
Define and Execute a Content Strategy: Work with the strategic Head of Content to define outcomes and associated metrics for content across hardware, software, and -as-a-service offerings. Then drive aligned execution to continuously improve those outcomes. (We use Outcome Driven Innovation, ODI.)
Lead and Grow Humans: Build, mentor, and inspire a distributed team of content creators. Foster a culture of innovation and accountability.
Reduce Toil: Implement best-in-class tools to improve efficiency and consistency: structured authoring models, build automation, and AI-assisted content generation and quality assurance.
Grow Customers’ Confidence: Ensure documentation satisfies technical knowledge workers including administrators, architects, developers, and business partners, and helps them grow their skills and feel confident at work.
Integrate with Product Lifecycle: Embed documentation planning into agile development processes to ensure high-quality content is delivered at launch.
Collaborate: Partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, UX, Support, and Marketing to align and amplify outcomes.
Shift-left: Adopt a shift-left strategy to integrate content strategy into the design phase, ensuring it is a primary driver rather than an afterthought.
Governance and Standards: Define editorial standards, information architecture frameworks, accessibility compliance, and localization strategies.
Digital Experience Leadership: Advance interactive documentation, embedded help, API documentation, knowledge bases, and learning integrations.
8+ years of experience in content creation and 2+ years leading teams, demonstrating use of mechanisms to scalably improve content quality and reduce toil.
Demonstrated success in modernizing and automating processes using scalable tools. May include direct use of industry-standard structured authoring tools (e.g., DITA), content management systems (CCMS), and modern publishing platforms, or may involve building a bespoke content automation pipeline with equivalent capabilities.
Have used AI either directly or through a team to create novel methods of validating quality of generated content, create or improve a content build pipeline, convert linguistic content to accurate media content, or otherwise reduce toil in content generation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and experience enforcing a high bar for communication with a team of reports.
Experience with enterprise infrastructure, storage technologies (block, file, object storage, data protection, cyber resilience), cloud, as-a-service, or related technology.
Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, Computer Science or related field.
