IBM Consulting Australia is seeking a visionary Red Hat & IBM Technology Chapter Lead to drive our open hybrid cloud architecture practice, uplift practitioner capability, and guide clients in adopting Red Hat and IBM’s advanced technology platforms.

As a technology leader, you will shape technical excellence across Red Hat OpenShift, Ansible Automation Platform, IBM Software (Instana, Turbonomic, watsonx), and strategic acquisitions like HashiCorp and Confluent, unlocking differentiated value for clients across industries.

You will work closely with major hyperscalers with particular focus on AWS and Azure — helping clients adopt open, portable, AI‑enabled architectures for Hybrid Cloud that accelerate modernisation and deliver business outcomes at scale.

About the Role

As the Red Hat & IBM Technology Chapter Lead, you will lead capability development, delivery governance, and cross‑portfolio technology integration across Red Hat and IBM’s platform ecosystem. You will support deal origination across all sectors and working closely with client partners and sellers. You will coach architecture and engineering tribes, enabling excellence across container platforms, automation, integration, observability, and hybrid cloud operations.

This role is ideal for a technology leader who understands client’s context, brings industry knowledge and thrives at the intersection of open technology, cloud modernisation, responsible AI adoption, and high‑performing teams to unlock business value.

Your role and responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

1. Origination, Solutioning & Bid Leadership

  • Shape and lead deal origination across Red Hat and IBM Technology‑based modernisation, automation, and hybrid cloud programs.
  • Develop solution architectures for OpenShift‑based cloud platforms, automation strategies using Ansible, and modernization journeys supported by IBM technology accelerators.
  • Support bid management by driving technical strategy, estimation, solution validation, and executive presentations.

2. Red Hat & IBM Technology Chapter Leadership

  • Lead practitioner capability uplift across Red Hat and IBM technology stacks, spanning:
    • Red Hat OpenShift, OpenShift Virtualization, Advanced Cluster Management
    • Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux and edge computing
    • IBM WebSphere Hybrid Edition, Instana, Turbonomic, IBM API Connect
    • watsonx and AI‑enabled automation patterns
  • Build and mentor platform engineering and architecture tribes, focused on container platforms, GitOps, CI/CD, DevSecOps and SRE capabilities.
  • Define and govern technical standards, reusable patterns, and codified assets — including platform blueprints on AWS, Azure and GCP.

3. Collaboration with Major Hyperscalers

  • Drive joint cloud‑native platform strategy with AWS, Azure and Google Cloud — particularly OpenShift on hyperscaler managed services (ROSA, ARO, GKE on Anthos).
  • Create integrated cloud modernisation pathways leveraging Red Hat, IBM Software and hyperscaler native services.
  • Work with hyperscaler partner teams to bring innovative co‑delivery models, joint offerings and accelerator IP.

4. Champion IBM’s Strategic Acquisitions for Differentiated Value

  • Lead and evangelise adoption of IBM’s strategic acquisitions to enhance automation, security, multi‑cloud consistency and platform engineering maturity to support client outcomes.
  • Combine Red Hat’s open hybrid cloud capabilities, IBM Technology platforms, and new acquisitions to create market‑differentiated, AI‑ready solutions.

5. AI‑Enabled Engineering & Modernisation Leadership

  • Drive adoption of IBM’s AI‑enabled and agentic assets to enable deliveyr through:
    • automated architectural assessments
    • AI‑augmented code modernisation
    • intelligent automation within Ansible and OpenShift pipelines
    • watsonx integrations for operational efficiency
  • Embed AI into the platform engineering lifecycle across design, build, deploy and operate phases.

6. People Leadership & Practitioner Growth

  • Lead a team of architects and engineers across Red Hat and IBM Technology.
  • Provide coaching, role‑modelling and performance leadership.
  • Foster a growth mindset culture driven by experimentation, continuous learning and open collaboration.
  • Oversee certification pathways across Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA), OpenShift, Ansible, and IBM Technology certifications.

7. Delivery Excellence, Assurance & Governance

  • Provide architectural oversight on complex Red Hat and IBM technology platform implementations.
  • Drive delivery governance for hybrid cloud platforms, automation rollouts, DevSecOps pipelines and multi‑cluster OpenShift deployments.
  • Ensure client outcomes through technical assurance, risk management and quality governance.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Expertise

  • Strong proficiency with Red Hat OpenShift, including multi‑cluster architecture, GitOps, DevSecOps, and platform SRE practices.
  • Sound expertise in Ansible Automation Platform, automation hub, and enterprise automation strategies.
  • Proven experience with IBM Technology platforms such as Instana, Turbonomic, WebSphere Hybrid Edition, API Connect, and MQ.
  • Experience integrating HashiCorp Terraform/Vault/Consul into multi‑cloud and platform engineering strategies.
  • Knowledge of Confluent Kafka within event‑driven and real‑time data architectures.
  • Comfortable working across AWS, Azure, and GCP — ideally with experience running OpenShift and automation platforms on hyperscaler infrastructure.

Consulting, Industry & Leadership Experience

  • Demonstrated leadership across large‑scale hybrid cloud and modernisation programs.
  • Proven ability to lead client‑facing engagements, C‑suite discussions, and end‑to‑end solution delivery.
  • Strong delivery governance capabilities across multi‑vendor and enterprise transformation programs.
  • Demonstrated industry experience in one or more sectors such as banking & finance, public sector, energy and utility etc.
