Introduction

Ready to break things on purpose and get paid for it? We’re looking for a Junior Test Automation Engineer to join our IBM Consulting team. You don’t need to have all the answers yet — you just need the drive to learn, grow, and make quality your superpower.

In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.

Your role and responsibilities

What you’ll be doing:

Write and run automated tests — following guidelines and picking up best practices along the way
Turn test cases into working automated scripts (yes, it’s as satisfying as it sounds)
Document test results clearly and report bugs in tools like JIRA Xray or Azure DevOps
Collaborate with dev and QA teams — communication is key, and you’ll get plenty of practice
Jump into code reviews and learn from people who’ve been in the trenches
Support senior engineers in building and maintaining the test automation framework

Required technical and professional expertise

What you bring:

1+ year of experience in test automation or software development
Coding skills in Java, Python, or JavaScript — pick your weapon
Some hands-on time with at least one automation framework: Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium, or Robot Framework
A problem-solving mindset — you like figuring out why things break, not just that they break

Your tech stack:

Test frameworks: Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Robot Framework
Test management: JIRA Xray, JIRA Zephyr, Azure DevOps
Version control: GitHub or Bitbucket

Your vibe:

You communicate clearly and can work with people across different teams
You’re curious and always up for learning something new
Details matter to you — you’re the kind of person who notices things others miss
You take feedback well and see every mistake as a chance to level up

Preferred technical and professional experience

Bonus points if you have:

A solid grasp of software testing principles, methodologies, and best practices
Experience with SoapUI, Jenkins, TestNG, or Cucumber
Familiarity with test environment setup and test data preparation
Basic API testing know-how
