In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.
As a Database Engineer specializing in Enterprise Data Platforms, you will design, implement, and optimize robust database environments to support mission‑critical workloads and modernization initiatives. You will work across on‑premise and cloud ecosystems, ensuring availability, performance, and secure data management. Your primary responsibilities will include:
Design and Optimize Database Architectures: Develop and manage high‑availability and scalable database solutions leveraging Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL in enterprise environments.
Lead Performance Tuning and Administration: Execute advanced tuning, capacity management, and administration activities to ensure optimal performance and resilience of database systems.
Work with AWS Cloud Services: Apply consolidated experience with AWS Cloud to design and manage cloud‑based data platforms aligned with architectural and security best practices.
Manage AWS RDS Environments: Oversee AWS RDS instances, including high availability setups, backup strategies, security configurations, and performance optimization.
Drive Complex Data Migrations: Utilize AWS DMS to lead data migration initiatives and modernization strategies, ensuring accurate, efficient, and low‑disruption data movement across heterogeneous systems.
In this role, you will build deep expertise in enterprise‑grade database engineering, contributing to the design, optimization, and modernization of mission‑critical data platforms across hybrid and cloud environments. You will work with advanced database technologies and AWS cloud services to ensure resilient, secure, and high‑performance data ecosystems. Your primary responsibilities will include:
Advanced RDBMS Proficiency: Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL in enterprise environments, with the ability to quickly adopt adjacent tooling to support reliability and scale.
High‑Availability Design & Tuning: Design, performance tuning, and administration of highly available and scalable database platforms, applying best practices for resiliency, continuity, and throughput.
AWS Cloud Experience: Consolidated experience operating data platforms on AWS, aligning with security, scalability, and operational excellence standards.
AWS RDS Administration: Advanced management of AWS RDS (SQL Server/PostgreSQL), including HA configurations, backup and recovery, security hardening, and performance optimization.
Data Migration & Modernization with AWS DMS: Execute complex migrations and modernization strategies using AWS DMS, including data mapping/validation and low‑downtime cutovers across heterogeneous systems.
