Your role and responsibilities

Senior Solution Architect, IBM Corporation, Armonk, NY and various unanticipated client sites throughout the US (Up to 100% telecommuting permitted):

  • Identify a prospect's business problem and develop a solution using internal products.
  • Understand business problems quickly and identify the appropriate technology offerings and differentiators.
  • Exhibit the highest degree of technical architecture and design expertise within the internal technologies.
  • Manage opportunities through qualification, definition, evaluation, proposal, and closure stages, ensuring timely progress.
  • Address functional and business requirements in RFI/RFP responses.
  • Collaborate with sales and prospects to align business needs with company capabilities.
  • Analyze requirements and deliver the best internal solution.
  • Define POC/POV or custom demonstration scenarios and map functions of company products to prospects’ needs.
  • Lead the team on implementation of POC/POVs and custom demos, ensuring the demonstration fulfills the prospect’s requirements by highlighting and differentiating internal capabilities.
  • Define the prospect’s target architecture that fulfills their business objectives.
  • Work with the Account Executive to structure the proposal that meets the prospect’s target architecture.
  • Lead the design of highly complex and large-scale solutions that may involve multiple systems, technologies, and teams, ensuring these solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with long-term architectural principles.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior and mid-level solution architects, sharing best practices, architectural patterns, and industry standards.
  • Coordinate with multiple teams across different functions, including development, operations, and business units, to ensure cohesive and integrated solution delivery.
  • Utilize: webMethods Integration Server, webMethods API Gateway, webMethods Universal Messaging, webMethods.io iPaaS, MuleSoft, Oracle Fusion Middleware.

Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology or related and two (2) years of experience as a Solution Architect, Sales Engineer, Sales Consultant or related. Two (2) years of experience must include utilizing webMethods Integration Server, webMethods API Gateway, webMethods Universal Messaging, webMethods.io iPaaS, MuleSoft, Oracle Fusion Middleware. $183594 to $212200 per year. The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.


This position is eligible for participation in an IBM Sales Incentive plan. Actual incentive opportunity will be based on performance and the eligible Target Incentive, as addressed in the applicable plan, all of which is subject to change. The compensation range listed for this position is the IBM Reference Salary that is used when you are not actively participating in a sales plan. Your actual base pay plus incentive opportunity will be determined by the Incentive Plan assigned to you.
