Your role and responsibilities

As a Product Sales SME for Data Platform - AI, you will utilize your deep knowledge and experience with IBM's AI products to drive business growth. Your expertise will cover a range of products, including Bob, WatsonX Orchestrate, Business Analytics Enterprise including Planning Analytics, Openpages, Content Manager, Filenet, among others.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Develop Solution Strategies: Design and develop comprehensive sales strategies for IBM's AI products, leveraging your in-depth knowledge of the product portfolio to meet client needs and drive revenue growth.
  • Deliver Client-Facing Solutions: Collaborate with clients to understand their business challenges and deliver tailored solutions using IBM's AI products, ensuring seamless integration and maximum ROI.
  • Provide Product Expertise: Serve as a trusted advisor, providing guidance and support to clients on the implementation and optimization of IBM's AI products, including WatsonX Code Assistant and Business Analytics Enterprise.
  • Foster Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and product development, to ensure alignment and effective solution delivery.
  • Stay Current with Product Developments: Continuously update your knowledge of IBM's AI products, staying abreast of new features, releases, and applications to maintain your SME status.
  • Strategic Consultative Selling: Proven ability to contribute to and accelerate sales growth by actively supporting revenue‑generating strategies and customer engagement activities.
  • Strong capability to coach: Demonstrated consultative experience providing support during customer engagements and helping elevate meeting effectiveness.

Required technical and professional expertise
  • Well‑developed expertise in enterprise sales, with a history of delivering results and driving customer engagement with confidence and autonomy.
  • Experience with IBM's Data products, including Cloud Pak for Data, watsonx.data is required to design and develop comprehensive sales strategies.
  • Technical Expertise in Data Solutions: Experience in delivering high-quality solutions and support for Data products, such as DataStage, Project Unite, and Streamsets, is necessary to address client technical questions and concerns.
  • Familiarity with Data Product Ecosystem: Experience with the Data Fabric Ecosystem & Emerging, Data Product Hub, and Decision Optimization is required to stay up-to-date on the latest developments and advancements in IBM's Data products.
  • Understanding of Database Management Systems: Experience with database management systems, including Db2, Informix, and Netezza, is necessary to provide expert-level support to clients and ensure successful implementation of Data products.
  • Exposure to Big Data Technologies: Experience with big data technologies, such as Cloudera & Hadoop, DataStax, and MongoDB, is required to continuously assess and improve the delivery of Data product solutions.
Preferred technical and professional experience

• Additional Data Product Knowledge: Experience with Astronomer, Databand, Manta, Master Data Management, Optim, Datastax can be beneficial in providing comprehensive sales strategies and support for clients.

• Broader Database Management: Familiarity with EnterpriseDB, Elastic, and SingleStore can be advantageous in addressing client technical questions and concerns.

• Emerging Data Technologies: Exposure to emerging data technologies and trends can be valuable in continuously assessing and improving the delivery of Data product solutions.

US Citizenship Required.

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.


This position is eligible for participation in an IBM Sales Incentive plan. Actual incentive opportunity will be based on performance and the eligible Target Incentive, as addressed in the applicable plan, all of which is subject to change. The compensation range listed for this position is the IBM Reference Salary that is used when you are not actively participating in a sales plan. Your actual base pay plus incentive opportunity will be determined by the Incentive Plan assigned to you.
