Your role and responsibilities

IBM is seeking a Senior Manager, Learning Platform Strategy & Program Operations to lead the strategic direction, governance, and operational delivery of IBM Training, the learning environment that supports IBM.com and IBM product teams.

This role is responsible for defining the vision for IBM’s training ecosystem, managing the learning platform and associated systems, and ensuring reliable, scalable operational execution. The position acts as the central orchestrator of training delivery—enabling contributor teams across IBM to publish high‑quality learning experiences through well‑designed processes, standards, and technology infrastructure.

The ideal candidate blends strategic thinking with operational rigor and has deep experience owning enterprise learning platforms, streamlining workflows, and aligning stakeholders across a large, matrixed organization.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

Learning Platform Strategy & Governance

  • Define and maintain the strategic roadmap for IBM’s learning platform, ensuring it aligns with business priorities, product evolution, and learner needs.
  • Establish governance standards—including taxonomy, metadata, publishing guidelines, and platform access protocols—to ensure consistency and discoverability across all training materials.
  • Evaluate platform capabilities and champion enhancements that improve learner experience, analytics, accessibility, and scalability.
  • Serve as the organization’s authority on learning platform capabilities, use cases, and best practices.

Program Operations & Delivery

  • Design and manage operational workflows for training intake, publishing, versioning, and lifecycle management.
  • Lead program operations end-to-end, ensuring timely and coordinated delivery across multiple business units and stakeholder groups.
  • Build repeatable, scalable systems for reporting, learner analytics, and operational performance.
  • Maintain the training program calendar and oversee cross-functional release coordination.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Alignment

  • Act as the primary point of contact for teams contributing learning materials, guiding them through intake processes, platform requirements, and publishing workflows.
  • Build trusted partnerships with product, marketing, enablement, and L&D teams to ensure learning experience alignment across IBM.
  • Facilitate alignment on priorities, timelines, and platform standards across diverse contributors.
  • Represent the training program’s strategy and roadmap to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

Platform & Vendor Management

  • Own ongoing configuration, optimization, and governance of the learning management system (LMS) and related tooling.
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and platform integrations as needed.
  • Partner with IT and security teams to ensure compliance, stability, and performance of learning systems.

Measurement & Continuous Improvement

  • Define success metrics for platform performance and training program effectiveness.
  • Develop reporting dashboards and insights to guide program decisions and stakeholder communications.
  • Continuously improve processes based on learner analytics, operational data, and stakeholder feedback.

Required technical and professional expertise
  • 7+ years of experience in learning platforms, learning operations, digital program management, or enterprise training systems.
  • Direct experience administering or owning LMS/LXP platforms (Adobe Learning Manager, Cornerstone, Workday Learning, or similar; Adobe experience preferred).
  • Proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional programs across large organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience building operational processes, governance frameworks, and scalable workflows.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including influencing without authority.
  • Analytical mindset with experience defining KPIs and interpreting learner/usage data.

Preferred technical and professional experience
  • Experience in enterprise software, technology, or digital marketing environments.
  • Familiarity with IBM’s technologies or the ability to learn them quickly.
  • Knowledge of learning experience design principles and how content is structured or delivered (without functioning as a content developer).
  • Understanding of emerging trends in AI‑enabled learning and modern learning ecosystems.

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
