Your role and responsibilities

As a self-driven Procurement Sourcing Buyer, you will support an external client environment. You will be responsible for supporting sourcing requirements and supporting client category management team and managing the contractual commitments for a given category. You will report to the Budapest Procurement Service organization, but at the same time you will become part of the extended team of our clients as well, who might provide additional business guidance. You will conduct tendering activities, market analysis, including market drivers, supplier profiles and relative negotiating positions and support client sourcing strategies.

  • You will provide sourcing support as assigned by the Delivery Sourcing Manager and Client Category Lead and contribute to operational levels of excellence.
  • You will own primary responsibility to achieve client success against all contractual commitments at a category level.
  • You will be responsible to understand category deliverables, savings commitments, milestones, and obligations– includes supporting reporting, analytical readouts that recognize opportunities to improve.
  • You will contribute to integrated sourcing strategy which delivers savings and drives category transformation through time. Deliver and execute on sourcing events to support the strategy, including tail spend management and supplier consolidation.
  • You will communicate and negotiate with clients and suppliers through all levels of organization, primary interface to key category client stakeholders.
  • You will have the responsibility for achieving best overall value for IBM’s client when acquiring or contracting for goods and services.
  • You will develop and maintain effective relationships with key client stakeholders, to understand and interpret their requirements and longer term strategies to ensure procurement can meet and exceed where possible these requirements.

Required technical and professional expertise
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent post-secondary experience
  • A minimum of 3–5 years’ sourcing experience within at least one of the following procurement categories: Marketing, Corporate & Professional Services
  • Fluent English language skills
  • Demonstrated negotiation expertise
  • Supplier relationship management expertise
  • Strong communication and client facing skills
  • Proactive character, assertive and a strong team player
  • Able to juggle multiple priorities in a matrix environment
Preferred technical and professional experience
  • Industry Knowledge Enhancement: Exposure to deep industry knowledge of various commodities, including market trends and dynamics, to enhance sourcing decisions and strategies.
  • Advanced Data Analysis: Experience working with advanced data analysis tools and benchmarking methodologies to inform complex sourcing decisions and optimize sourcing strategies.
  • Strategic Sourcing Insights: Exposure to developing strategic sourcing insights through data analysis, market research, and industry trends to drive effective sourcing decisions.
  • Technology: Ariba, SAP, Coupa, MS Office suite, Outlook
  • Experience with dashboards, data and reporting
