As a Data Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and high‑performing data pipelines and processing solutions in cloud environments. You will work extensively with Python, SQL, and distributed processing frameworks such as Spark to enable reliable data ingestion, transformation, and delivery for analytics, reporting, and data science use cases. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand data needs, modernize data architectures, and implement best practices in data engineering, testing, and automation.
This role is cloud‑agnostic but requires strong practical experience with cloud‑native data platforms, orchestration tools, and containerized deployments.
Responsibilities
• Design, build, and maintain batch and real‑time data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and delivery
• Develop scalable data processing solutions using Python, SQL, and distributed compute frameworks such as Spark
• Implement robust unit, integration, and data‑quality testing for all pipelines
• Optimize data workflows for performance, cost efficiency, and reliability
• Design and operate data layers for analytics, data warehouses, and data lakes or lakehouses
• Build and maintain orchestration workflows using tools such as Airflow or similar schedulers
• Develop APIs or integration components when required for data movement or data services
• Containerize and deploy data solutions using Docker and work with orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes
• Follow best practices for data governance, metadata management, data security, and compliance
• Collaborate closely with data analysts, data scientists, architects, and business stakeholders
• Maintain clear technical documentation including data flow diagrams, pipeline specifications, and operational guides
Required Technical and Professional Experience
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in data engineering or related technical roles
• Strong proficiency in Python for data processing, automation, and application development
• Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with relational and NoSQL databases
• Hands‑on experience developing and operating data pipelines in a cloud environment
• Solid experience with Spark or similar distributed compute frameworks
• Proficiency with containerization using Docker and orchestration using Kubernetes
• Experience implementing unit and integration testing for data pipelines
• Knowledge of data modeling, ETL and ELT patterns, and pipeline performance tuning
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow or Prefect
• Understanding of cloud security fundamentals and data protection best practices
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum teams
• Experience with lakehouse architecture concepts
• Familiarity with streaming technologies such as Kafka or equivalent
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Experience with metadata and data catalog solutions
• Familiarity with infrastructure‑as‑code concepts or tools
