In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.
Technical Project Manager at its core, you will lead engagement activities on projects to ensure Marketing, Communication, or CSR strategy is at the foundation of work and creative quality standards are met. You will be accountable for the successful delivery of a portfolio of creative assets, managing relationships with cross-functional teams, and serving as both the internal and external liaison to translate business and creative needs into actions. Your primary responsibilities will include:
• Manage Creative Asset Delivery: Oversee the development and delivery of creative assets, ensuring they meet the required quality standards and are aligned with the Marketing, Communication, or CSR strategy. This includes managing relationships with external agencies and global teams to meet in-market business needs.
• Streamline Processes and Tools: Refine business processes, including the usage of tools to track and forecast financial and project objectives, to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
• Drive Communications and Approvals: Facilitate communications and approvals across cross-functional teams, ensuring that expectations are managed at both strategic and tactical levels.
• Build Trust and Negotiate: Negotiate and build trust across the team by streamlining time, cost, and quality across multiple simultaneous work efforts.
• Apply Learnings and Best Practices: Apply learnings from previous work to strengthen the team's ongoing performance and implement best practices to drive continuous improvement.
• Monitor Engagement Health Across the CR Portfolio: Surface risks early, own escalations strategically, and ensure the team’s active engagements stay aligned with client expectations and IBM project delivery standards.
• Support Client Satisfaction: Back team of Technical Project Managers in building strong client relationships. Step into strategic client conversations when the situation calls for it.
• Identify Growth Opportunities: Work with Technical Project Managers to spot and pursue expansion within existing accounts, connecting client needs to IBM’s broader capabilities.
• Interpersonal Awareness: Reads the room, adapts communication style, and navigates the dynamics of a multicultural, distributed team with ease.
• Genuine Investment in People: Cares about more than metrics—actively supports the professional and personal growth of every team member.
• 10+ years minimum as a Senior Technical Project Manager across complex, multi-stakeholder engagements.
• 5 years minimum of direct experience leading and developing other Technical Project Managers—including hiring, coaching, performance management, and team strategy.
• 5 years minimum of hands-on data engineering experience. Must deeply understand data ingestion, transformation, consumption, and pipeline lifecycles to credibly lead and coach Technical Project Management team.
• Proven experience in a consulting or professional services environment, with fluency in engagement economics and client delivery models.
• Deep Expertise in Creative Asset Management: Proven experience in overseeing the development and delivery of creative assets, ensuring quality standards and alignment with Marketing, Communication, or CSR strategy.
• Experience with Process Optimization: Demonstrated ability to refine business processes, including tool usage, to optimize efficiency and effectiveness in tracking and forecasting financial and project objectives.
• Senior Client Management: Experience serving as primary liaison to executive sponsors, as well as business and technical stakeholders, translating complex technical solutions into business value and managing expectations through challenging project phases and scope changes.
• Strategic Communication Management: Experience in facilitating communications and approvals across cross-functional teams, managing expectations at strategic and tactical levels.
• Financial and Project Tracking: Experience with tools to track and forecast financial and project objectives, optimizing efficiency and effectiveness in creative asset delivery.
• Large Team Leadership: Proven track record managing delivery teams of 10+ technical resources, including architects, data engineers, developers, and QA testers across multiple concurrent client engagements while maintaining quality standards and delivery timelines.
• Crisis Resolution & Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to quickly identify and resolve critical project blockers, including technical debt, performance issues, integration challenges, and vendor complications while maintaining client confidence and project momentum.
• Scaled Agile Delivery Management: Proficiency in Agile frameworks (SAFe, Scrum) with experience leading sprint planning for multiple teams, managing cross-team dependencies, and implementing CI/CD practices that consistently deliver data platform projects on-time and within scope.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Proven ability to negotiate and build trust across teams, streamlining time, cost, and quality across multiple simultaneous work efforts.
• Continuous Improvement Implementation: Experience in applying key learnings from previous work to drive continuous improvement and implementing best practices to strengthen team performance.
• Broad Business Expertise: Experience with broad TLS-wide business expertise, enabling effective management of scope, cost, schedule, and contractual deliverables.
• IT Service Management Knowledge: Exposure to IT service management concepts, supporting the delivery of solutions to clients. • Additional Agile Methodologies: Experience with multiple Agile methodologies, such as SCRUM, Lean, Kanban, and Design Thinking, to effectively manage project scope and deliverables.
