Your role and responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll (ECP) Business Analyst having professional certification in SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll with deep functional and technical expertise in United States payroll to contribute to the design, development, and deployment of tailored software solutions.

The ideal candidate will adapt existing methods to create innovative solutions for complex business challenges, aligning with IBM's strategic objectives and regulatory compliance.

Importantly this role requires hands-on payroll experience within SAP Success Factors Employee Central Payroll, strong understanding of Point-to-Point replication impacts, and the ability to partner effectively across Payroll Operations, HR Technology, CIO, Finance, and other enterprise functions.

US Payroll Product Ownership: Act as the primary Business Analyst and functional owner for United States Payroll within SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll, maintaining overall accountability for solution design, system integrity, compliance, and operational effectiveness.

Requirements Analysis & Solution Design: Lead detailed fit-gap analysis of business requirements against standard SuccessFactors ECP capabilities; guide stakeholders on design and configuration options that leverage standard solutions and industry best practices.

Hands-on Configuration & Issue Resolution: Perform hands-on analysis, troubleshooting, and configuration directly within ECP; partner with techno-functional SMEs to investigate defects, validate root cause, confirm fixes, and ensure successful deployment outcomes.

End-to-End Payroll Processing Support: Support on-cycle, off-cycle, special payroll runs, one-time payments (OTPs), and year-end activities in close partnership with Payroll Operations, ensuring payroll accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance.

Change & Enhancement Delivery: Lead technical solutioning for change requests initiated by or impacting US Payroll, including impact assessment, solution design, risk evaluation, release planning, and coordinated testing and deployments.

Integration & Replication Management: Partner with Point-to-Point Replication and integration SMEs to identify, resolve, and permanently remediate data replication fallouts impacting US Payroll, validating systemic fixes and assessing payroll risk.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with upstream HR systems, CIO organizations, HR governance, and enterprise functions to ensure seamless alignment across HCM, Time & Attendance, Absence, Mobility, and downstream payroll integrations.

Payroll Functional Domain Leadership: Provide subject matter expertise across core payroll domains including Tax, Banking, Deductions, 401(k), Payments, Accounting, Workers' Compensation, Time & Attendance, Absence, Mobility, and Payroll Posting.

Payroll Posting & Financial Controls: Collaborate with Finance and Payroll Operations on payroll posting, reconciliations, and controls, partnering with Finance Business Analysts on post-payroll and accounting integration matters.

Platform Readiness & Release Management: Represent US Payroll in HRSP and platform upgrades; assess release impacts, coordinate readiness activities, oversee regression testing, and confirm payroll readiness for releases and year-end.

Testing & Validation Leadership: Lead payroll validation activities across System Integration Testing (SIT), Regression, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), partnering with Payroll Operations to define testing strategies and approve payroll readiness.

Strategic Alignment & Continuous Improvement: Ensure payroll technology solutions align with enterprise strategic direction; maintain regular engagement with SAP to stay current on product roadmaps and enhancements, translating relevant changes into actionable recommendations for US Payroll.

Required technical and professional expertise
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in SuccessFactors with emphasis on ECP for at least 5 years
  • Extensive experience supporting United States payroll within SAP SuccessFactors
    Employee Central Payroll
  • Strong knowledge of US payroll regulations, tax processing, posting, and compliance
  • Demonstrated experience in hands-on ECP configuration and troubleshooting
  • Proven ability to lead complex change initiatives, payroll releases, and testing cycles
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Experience working with integrations, point-to-point replication, and payroll interfaces
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in solving complex payroll technology problems
  • Certification in SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll
Preferred technical and professional experience
  • Prior experience in large enterprise or global payroll environments.
  • Experience supporting year-end payroll processing and HR platform upgrades.
  • Familiarity with Finance posting, reconciliation, and audit controls.
  • Proficiency in applying Agile and Design Thinking principles with a growth mindset.

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
