Your role and responsibilities

As a IBM Technology Expert Labs Solution Architect you'll be a pivotal team member who connects the client's technical functional and implementation requirements with a solution design and proposal.

You will work closely with clients and account teams to define technology solutions including technical architectures and technology services that meet the client's business goals. In this role, you will lead evaluation of the business needs and defining solutions with IBM technology and services that leverage and fit in with the client's software, hardware, and infrastructure. A successful Solution Architect will look for repeatable architecture patterns, automation, and assets to be deployed at scale and demonstrate a natural bias towards self-motivation and navigating data and people to find answers and present solutions that ensure world class delivery.

• End-to-End Technical Guidance: Providing expert end-to-end technical guidance to lead discovery discussions with prospective clients, assess architecture needs for projects, work with technical leads and sellers to create proposals.
• Finding the Best Architectural Outcomes: Leading client workshops; influencing client stakeholders at all levels to find the best architectural outcomes that align to business and technology strategies and initiatives into actionable roadmaps with clear direction on execution to ensure business value and ROI.
• Maintaining Solution Review Boards: Developing and contributing to the solution review boards for proposals including oversight for technology assurance, quality and risk evaluation
• Building Successful Relationships: Establishing and maintaining personal relationship at all levels – from engineers to CIOs – with experience of navigating challenging debate to reach healthy resolutions.
• Part of the role will involved creating and updating assets related to TEL offerings and services, which can be utilised by our sellers, our in-market solution architects and our delivery consultants.

• Core Technology Skills: Extensive knowledge and experience with IBM i and associated IBM Power technologies, including:
• Design, deployment and optimization of infrastructure solutions for IBM i.
• Performance analysis, recommendations and tuning
• Backup, restore and migration techniques for both on-premise and IBM PowerVS IBM i environments.

• Solution Architect Skills: Track record of defining, sizing and pricing professional services solutions to deploy solutions across all solution phases from requirements definition, design, implementation planning, solution build, workload migration to operation
• Transformation Skills: Experience in migrating and transforming legacy client solutions to the cloud, navigating the challenges of cloud adoption and implementing cloud native technologies.
• Self-Motivated Problem Solver: Demonstrating a natural bias towards self-motivation, curiosity, initiative in addition to navigating data, technologies and people to find answers and present solutions.
• Collaboration and Communication: Strong collaboration and communication skills as you work across the client, partner and IBM teams.

Preferred technical and professional experience

• Other Technology Expertise: Deep expertise in at least one of the following technology areas that are often integrated with or are adjacent to IBM i:

• Automation solutions such as Ansible or Terraform
