Your role and responsibilities

As a Back-End Developer for Storage, you will design, develop, unit test, and deliver offerings for IBM Storage products using agile practices and DevOps tooling. You will work in a collaborative environment to understand requirements and create creative solutions to client problems, emphasizing fail-first, fail-fast methods and world-class quality. Your primary responsibilities will include: • Design and Develop Solutions: Design, code, debug, and test creative solutions to client problems and requirements, utilizing programming languages such as Embedded C, C, Python, GoLang, and Java. • Collaborative Problem-Solving: Work collaboratively to understand requirements and deliver high-quality solutions, emphasizing fail-first, fail-fast methods and user mode programming. • Ensure Quality and Resiliency: Ensure world-class quality and resiliency in solutions, supporting strategic imperatives including artificial intelligence and cloud. • Test and Deliver Offerings: Unit test and deliver offerings for IBM Storage products, utilizing agile practices and DevOps tooling. • Support Strategic Imperatives: Support strategic imperatives, including artificial intelligence and cloud, through the development of innovative storage solutions.

Required education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise

· 4 - 10 years of industry experience in Linux Internals, Kernel and User mode Programming, scripting, Kernel Debuggers, development and build tools in a Linux development environment.

· Proven knowledge of S/W development process & tools for product development/debugging using C/C++, java, Python language.

· Product development/usage experience on Linux/Windows operating systems for Linux kernel and user level programming and test.

· Deep knowledge and understanding of storage SCSI and iSER protocols backed with industry experience.

· Good knowledge on SCSI/iSCSI//iSER/FC/SAS protocols with hands on debugging skills on FC/iSCSI/SAS analysers.

· Proven Storage domain knowledge with hands-on experience on storage software stack implementation and debugging on Linux operating systems.

· Experience in Systems/Storage domains, Storage controllers and features like High availability, storage multi-pathing solutions.

· Good problem-solving skills for complex issues with interdependencies across multiple modules

· Ability to crisply communicate with stake holders (clients and level 3 support teams) for resolving field issues.

· Knowledge and hand-on usage of code and defect management tools.

· Ability to meticulously plan and detail test executions and identifying dependencies.

· Good written/verbal communication skills to report program status crisply and accurately.

· Experience working with Global teams.

· Good technical leadership skills to mentor new team members.

Preferred technical and professional experience

• Mainframe Storage Solutions: Knowledge of mainframe storage solutions is beneficial for this role, allowing for a deeper understanding of storage technologies and industry-standard protocols. • Linux Kernel Level Programming: Experience with Linux kernel level programming can be advantageous in designing and developing software applications or device drivers for Linux, Unix, AIX, and RTOS. • Clustering/Distributed Computing: Familiarity with clustering/distributed computing networking technologies, such as TCP/IP, RoCE, and Infiniband, can be valuable in creating high-performance storage solutions.
