Site Reliability engineers apply Software Engineering principles to perform infrastructure management tasks more eHiciently. They are focused on reliability and resiliency, and build systems which proactively detect issues before they cause customer impact. They are responsible for maintaining a high-performance, secure, and stable infrastructure for our clients.

Additionally, SREs resolve customer issues and problems detected through monitoring. They participate in datacenter build and configuration activities, performing tests, and deploy new features and capacity.

Your role and responsibilities

As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will work in an agile, collaborative environment to build, deploy, configure, and maintain systems for the IBM client business. In this role, you will lead the problem resolution process for our clients, from analysis and troubleshooting, to deploying the latest software updates & fixes.

Experienced network engineer to maintain and operation Cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service environment and provide reliable and secure network operations.

The Network Infrastructure Operations Engineer is also responsible for working with clients to ensure their specific networking requirements are provided. The Cloud Networking Operations SRE will operate in a fast-paced environment, providing technical support and resolving client networking issues associated with IBM Power Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and IBM Cloud. They will collaborate closely with other network and also with the Server and Storage SREs. The Networking Specialist will be responsible for handling support tickets, responding to clients in a timely and professional manner, and driving issues to resolution. As part of those
responsibilities, she/he will make required configuration changes in the Power IaaS network environment and elsewhere in IBM Cloud. The Networking Specialist will also be responsible for ongoing maintenance and updates of the PowerVS network environment, which is based on Cisco ACI software-defined networking. Strong communication skills, being a self-starter and ability to quickly learn new skills are also a must.

Responsibilities:
• Maintain and firmware upgrades on Cisco ASR/ACI/Leaf switches and Juniper as per security compliance
• Create customer network configurations with their unique requirements in the IBM Cloud environment
• Perform code updates and troubleshoot issues with network Automation (PowerNS)
• Raising support cases with network vendors to troubleshoot and resolve
hardware/software issues
• Investigate and resolve port down/flap/bandwidth issues over ACI/ASR
infrastructure, NNI links, and other parts of the network
• Day to day follow-up's on incidents and collaborating with compute, Storage, Nagios Monitoring as necessary
• Guide customer to create a DirectLink Connections, dedicated links, and configure Megaport VXC Connectivity from Cloud to the client environment
• Configure, Troubleshoot and Resolve Colo inter connectivity using GRE over NNI link and from Cloud environment to other cloud and infrastructure
• Configure and troubleshoot PUB-VLAN expansion, ACI/VSRX, and VPC expansion on ACI
• Enable VPNaaS connectivity from Power Cloud to Customer servers
• Attending scheduled meetings planned by customer for cut-over/maintenance windows
• Coordinating with Architects, leads and Cloud support teams on new custom configuration setup for customers

Required education
Bachelor's Degree

Required technical and professional expertise

Self-Starter who is a fast learner of technology and willing to experiment to find the best solutions
• Experience creating basic network configurations and working with a variety of network devices, troubleshooting and programming
• Expert-level hands on experience configuring and troubleshooting network
technologies including: Overall Cisco HW and SW, VLANs, Cisco ACI, Cisco ASRs, GRE, BGP, DirectLink, IPSEC VPN with Vyatta and vSRX, VPNaaS
• Good understanding of Juniper Junos, Juniper vSRX
• Knowledge of restricting traffic onto specific tcp/udp ports and modify static routes when needed upon customer requests
• Troubleshooting on MTU related issues
• Associate’s degree in Computer Science or related IT field Experience managing and supporting enterprise networks
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred technical and professional experience

3+ years experience supporting customers using ServiceNow or Salesforce
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related IT field
• Technical knowledge of IBM Cloud networking
• Knowledge of IBM Power Systems hardware and virtualization
• Knowledge of Brocade SAN fabrics
