You will join a team managing the lifecycle of infrastructure and security, enhancing IBM's cloud solutions to ensure enterprises achieve efficiency, security, and scalability in their cloud journey.

Your role and responsibilities

The Infrastructure Product Group (IPG) is responsible for building the Infrastructure Cloud which allows enterprises to take a unified approach to Infrastructure Lifecycle Management (build / deploy / manage):

• Terraform allows you to use infrastructure as code to provision and manage any infrastructure across your organization.

• Packer standardizes image workflows across cloud providers, allowing teams to build, govern and manage any image for any cloud.

• Waypoint makes infrastructure easily accessible at scale, enabling platform teams to deliver golden patterns and workflows with an internal developer platform.

The Expansions group (Terraform Registry, Waypoint, and Packer) is on a mission to enable true end-to-end self-service for enterprise developers, with a focus on expanding the infrastructure product adoption among application developers.

We are forming a new team based in India to support the Expansions group and vision. This role is responsible for leading this India based-team. Your role and responsibilities

• Working fully-aligned with our global teams, engineer, deliver and operationalize key Cloud Platform Service / PAAS capabilities.

• Partner with leaders in Engineering, Product and Design to enforce best practices for measurable quality and value within the platform

• Hire and grow a diverse engineering team in a fast-scaling organization

• Work with HashiCorp products such as Terraform, Waypoint, and/or Packer

• Own the full lifecycle of feature development from design through testing and release

• Lean on your technical background to guide design and architecture conversations between engineers to a clear outcome

• Ensure the on-time release of well-tested and reliable software

• Cultivate excellence in the reliability, scalability, security, and craft of the software your team builds

• Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team and broader EPD organizations

• Present insights and recommendations to drive data-driven decision-making

• Contribute to company-wide initiatives led by our EPD management, recruitment, and people teams

Required technical and professional expertise

• 5+ years People Management experience leading engineering teams, with an emphasis on developing key talent and cultivating positive, high-performing cultures. A people-focused leadership style, with a track record of motivating and inspiring individuals and teams.

• 5+ years prior experience as a software engineer developing and supporting platform and product/application services including CICD-driven software development, testing and release management.

• Experience with running high availability services and production infrastructure and infrastructure-related technologies and balancing innovation with a focus on operational reliability

• Experience with modernizing existing/legacy platforms and managing the associated infrastructure and architectural evolution, specifically focusing on seamless migration/transition without disrupting a large, active customer base, while building a solid foundation for future innovation.

• Strong understanding of modern software delivery practices, including CICD (continuous integration and deployment/delivery) techniques and technologies

• Strong understanding of security and compliance practices and ensuring they are included in existing process and new developments

• Strong cross functional collaboration and influencing skills, including the ability to influence with & without formal authority.

Preferred technical and professional experience

• 5+ years of professional software development experience (Golang preferred) and are proficient in at least one frontend programming language (TypeScript, JavaScript/ES7)

• Direct experience with Terraform (preferred), CloudFormation, Pulumi, or Ansible or other infrastructure/configuration management related technologies in open source, enterprise, or cloud based products. Familiarity with other HashiCorp products like Packer and Waypoint are a plus.

• Experience navigating and managing projects spanning multiple codebases and organizations with separate ownership.
