In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.

Your role and responsibilities

As an Architect in IBM Consulting, you'll serve as a leader in defining solutions for clients. You'll be the advocate for the client while guiding the technical team to implementation.

You'll collaborate with client stakeholders and internal partners to understand the business problem and requirements, constraints of the system and concerns of the various stakeholders to systematically transform detailed solutions (architectures) for the client.

The qualified candidate must have technical experience analyzing system requirements and implementing migration methods for existing data. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with migrating critical databases across multiple database platforms and must be comfortable developing database migration solutions to ensure the clients information is stored effectively and securely.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Advisory & Consulting Leadership

• Act as a trusted advisor to client stakeholders, translating business needs into architecture strategies and actionable roadmaps.
• Lead client workshops, assessments, and architecture reviews, helping clients adopt modern data practices and navigate complex decisions.
• Communicate clearly and confidently with technical and non-technical audiences, providing strategic guidance and thought leadership.

Architecture & Solution Design

• Design robust, scalable data architectures across Snowflake, Databricks, AWS/Azure, and the broader modern data stack.
• Define ingestion, CDC, modeling, transformation, data quality, and delivery patterns aligned with business and regulatory requirements.
• Create architecture artifacts, reference frameworks, and standards that accelerate delivery and ensure quality across engagements.

Technical Leadership & Delivery Excellence

• Provide technical direction to multidisciplinary teams (data engineering, analytics, governance, etc.).
• Review and validate solution designs, ensuring alignment with architectural principles, performance expectations, and security best practices.
• Support hands-on implementation of critical solution components to unblock teams and drive momentum.
• Promote industry best practices around DataOps, observability, governance, and platform scalability.

Data Governance, Security & Compliance

• Guide clients on implementing strong governance models, including RBAC, data classification, lineage, and privacy.
• Ensure all solutions support necessary compliance frameworks (GDPR, SOC2, HIPAA, etc.).
• Promote security-by-design principles as a core element of every architecture.

Thought Leadership & Innovation

• Stay current on emerging technologies and trends across Snowflake, Databricks, AI/ML, Lakehouse, streaming, and semantic layers.
• Contribute to internal IP, accelerators, playbooks, and Hakkoda-branded methodologies.
• Support business development efforts through solutioning, scoping, and proposal support when needed.

Required education

Bachelor's Degree

Required technical and professional expertise

• 6+ yrs proven work experience in data warehousing/BI/analytics
• 3+ yrs as an Architect
• 3+ yrs experience working in Cloud platforms
• Strong expertise architecting cloud-native data solutions (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• In-depth experience with modern data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift, Synapse).
• Advanced SQL skills and strong understanding of distributed systems, ELT orchestration, and data ingestion patterns.
• Mastery of modern data modeling (Dimensional, Data Vault, Lakehouse).
• Hands-on experience with CICD, orchestration, and developer workflows (dbt, Airflow, Terraform, GitHub/Bitbucket).
• Proven consulting experience, client-facing communication, and stakeholder management.
• Advanced English

Preferred technical and professional experience

• Experience with CDC tools like Fivetran, Qlik Replicate, etc.
• Familiarity with AI/ML pipelines, feature stores, or vector databases.
• Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, or Azure architect certifications.
• Experience delivering engagements within consulting firms or professional services organizations
