An Endpoint Security Engineer is a security professional responsible for protecting an organization’s computer systems and networks from cyber threats. They play a critical role in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive information. An Endpoint Security Engineer protects an organization’s network and computer systems from cyber threats. They are responsible for implementing and maintaining endpoint security solutions that detect, prevent, and respond to security incidents
Endpoint monitoring and support: Track endpoint health, compliance dashboards, and respond to alerts.
Incident handling: Investigate malware infections, quarantine events, and initiate remediation workflows.
Antivirus EDR, and XDR management: Deploy and manage agents (e.g., Trend Micro, McAfee EPO, SentinelOne, Symantec), enforce policies, and update virus definitions.
Configuration and policy changes: Perform BAU (Business As Usual) tasks like MACDs (Moves, Adds, Changes, Deletes), configuration updates, and exception handling.
Documentation and reporting: Maintain system documentation, generate periodic reports, and keep records updated.
Collaboration with higher tiers: Assist L2/L3 teams with policy rollouts, signature tuning,
Technical proficiency: Familiarity with Windows, Linux, environments.
Tool expertise with endpoint security platforms (Symantec, Trend Micro, etc.).
Process knowledge: Incident, problem, change, and configuration management.
Analytical skills: Ability to proactively use monitoring tools to isolate events before service degradation.
