Your role and responsibilities
Test Planning & Execution:
Develop and execute test cases (functional, integration, regression, basic non‑functional) under guidance.
Automation Integration:
Implement and maintain automated testing solutions (using tools like Selenium, Rest‑Assured, Cypress) and help integrate with CI/CD pipelines.
Scripting & Technical Skills:
Use scripting (Python/Shell) to automate tasks and support test execution in various environments (Linux/Unix).
Collaboration & Growth:
Work closely with developers/DevOps teams to identify issues, escalate when needed, and continuously improve automation/test frameworks.
Performance & Non‑functional Exposure:
Support non‑functional testing (performance/load) and help identify potential issues; learning and growing in this area.
Cloud/Container Exposure:
Gain working knowledge of cloud environments (AWS/Azure/IBM Cloud) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) as part of test environment support.
Communication & Reporting:
Clearly document test results, defects, risks, and communicate status to stakeholders; participate in Agile ceremonies.
Required education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
Experience:
3–5 years of professional experience in Quality Engineering, Test Automation, and Software Quality Assurance, preferably in enterprise-scale or cloud-based environments.
Quality Assurance
Design, develop, and execute comprehensive functional, regression, and integration test plans to ensure software meets IBM’s quality and reliability standards.
Collaborate with development, DevOps, and product teams in Agile/Scrum environments to drive quality from the earliest stages of development.
Participate in story grooming, sprint reviews, and defect triage, ensuring quality criteria are well-defined and met.
Perform defect management and traceability using Jira, ensuring proper tracking, prioritization, and closure.
Maintain and manage test cases and execution cycles in TestRail, ensuring complete coverage and traceability across releases.
Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for critical issues and recommend process improvements for continuous product quality enhancement.
Automation Integration
Develop and maintain UI and API automation frameworks using tools such as Selenium, Rest-Assured, Karate, or Cypress.
Integrate automation tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions) to enable continuous validation and faster deployment feedback loops.
Execute and monitor automated test runs on Linux/Unix environments; experience with Python or Shell scripting is a plus.
Work closely with developers to identify test gaps, improve automation reliability, and reduce manual regression efforts.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in Java, with a solid understanding of OOP concepts, Collections, Exception Handling, and Streams API.
Experience validating REST APIs and performing backend data verification using SQL/NoSQL queries.
Familiarity with microservices testing, containerized setups (Docker/Kubernetes), and Git-based repositories.
Exposure to performance testing and security validation is advantageous.
Problem-Solving & Continuous Learning
Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities for identifying, reproducing, and isolating defects.
Demonstrated ability to perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and suggest technical/process improvements.
Flexible to contribute across multiple roles — functional, automation, and DevOps-QA — as project needs evolve.

Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration skills, enabling smooth interaction with globally distributed teams.
Strong time management and ability to handle multiple deliverables in parallel.

Preferred technical and professional experience
Exposure to containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes for deploying and validating microservices.
Working knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure Cloud for test environment setup and integration testing.
Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies, actively participating in sprint meetings and quality discussions.
Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and their role in continuous testing and deployment workflows.
Experience using test management tools such as TestRail and defect tracking tools like Jira for maintaining test traceability and defect lifecycle.
Exposure to API and UI automation using tools such as Rest-Assured, Karate, Selenium, or Cypress.
Basic understanding of performance testing concepts and tools (e.g., JMeter).
Good understanding of SQL/NoSQL databases and backend data validation.
Strong collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional Agile teams.
Passion for continuous learning and improvement in automation frameworks, cloud testing, DevOps integration, and AI-driven quality engineering.
