The Productivity Platforms team is part of the Product Excellence Office (PEO), empowering IBM product teams with AI-driven tools, processes and workflows to accelerate tasks and enhance quality within IBM’s Product Development Lifecycle (PDLC) model.

Your role and responsibilities

Join IBM's worldwide design organization for AI Applications, where our mission is to empower users to do their best work through intuitive and visually engaging interfaces. As a Designer, you'll play a crucial role in creating end-to-end customer experiences for AI-enabled solutions that help businesses make informed, data-driven decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Translate Insights into Designs: Convert actionable insights from the design research team into low and high-fidelity mock-ups, patterns, prototypes, and development-ready specifications.

• Create Visual Assets: Develop high-fidelity mock-ups, graphics, design patterns, prototypes, and demos to enhance user interfaces.

• Pattern Collaboration: Participate in discussions regarding common patterns, assets, and efficiencies within the product space.

• Collaborative Development: Work closely with design team members and developers to build, update, and modernize software product user interfaces using agile methodologies.

• Scenario Design: Design business process scenarios and flows for user interfaces and demonstrations.

• Feedback Loop: Share work-in-progress designs and actively engage in giving and receiving constructive critique.

• Business Context: Understand business problems across our customer base to provide context for deliverables.

• Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate with various stakeholders such as design researchers, content designers, developers, product owners, etc., across worldwide teams.

• Design Thinking Workshops: Plan, lead, and moderate virtual and in-person design thinking workshops.

Your role and responsibilities

We are seeking a talented and passionate Product Designer with strong UX and UI skills to join our Productivity Platforms team. As a Product Designer, you will play a crucial role in shaping the user experience of our internal AI-based tools and other processes and workflows designed for IBM product team members. You will help to enforce high quality standards for our products and for our users, backed up by research.

Responsibilities:

• User Experience (UX) Design:
• Solid understanding of user experience design principles with the ability to address complex design problems and provide sound design solutions.
• Proficient in IBM Enterprise Design Thinking methodologies.
• Conduct user research, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing, to understand user needs and pain points.
• Develop user flows, wireframes, and prototypes to communicate design concepts and interactions.
• Create and maintain user personas and journey maps.
• Analyze user feedback and data to identify areas for improvement.
• Advocate for user-centered design principles throughout the product development lifecycle.
• User Interface (UI) Design:
• Design visually appealing, accessible and consistent user interfaces that align with IBM's Carbon Design System.
• Create low-, medium-, and high-fidelity mock-ups and prototypes.
• Develop and maintain design systems and style guides.
• Ensure accessibility and responsiveness across different platforms.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers and other team members to ensure accurate implementation of designs.
• Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with product managers, engineers, and other designers in an Agile environment.
• Effectively communicate design concepts and rationale to stakeholders.
• Participate in design critiques and provide constructive feedback.
• Present design work to stakeholders and leadership.

• Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Product Designer, UX Designer, or UI Designer, preferably in enterprise software.
• Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
• Proficient in Figma.
• Experience conducting user research and usability testing.
• Ability to create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mock-ups.
• Knowledge of accessibility guidelines (WCAG).
• Excellent written, verbal communications, storytelling, and documentation skills.
• Strong analytical, creative, and strategic thinking skills – able to develop innovative solutions to business problems.
• Excellent collaboration skills.
• Strong portfolio showcasing UX and UI design work.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Experience with design systems.
• Strong organizational skills and an attention to detail.
• Portfolio of work must be presented incorporating designs and/or sketches that demonstrate an understanding of wireframing, interaction design, visual design, and design best practices.
