India Systems Development Lab (ISDL) is part of IBM Systems world-wide technology development lab. Established in 1996, the Lab is headquartered in India's Silicon Valley and startup hub - Bengaluru, with a strong presence in Pune and Hyderabad. Developers at ISDL deliver technology innovations across the entire Systems portfolio - z Systems, Power / OpenPOWER Systems and Storage. The team here works across the entire stack from processor design, firmware, operating system to software defined storage. The lab also focuses on innovations, thanks to the creative energies of the teams. The lab has contributed over 400+ patents in cutting edge technologies and inventions so far.While computing veers towards cognitive, cloud, mobile, social, and security, the lab has significantly contributed to not just new products focused in these areas, but has also ushered in new development models such as Agile, Design Thinking and DevOps.

Your role and responsibilities

As a Performance Lead Analyst your responsibilities would be

• Automating, Executing & measuring performance of various features/functions on IBM Z.

• Using various performance tools to analyze performance & identify bottlenecks / opportunities for improving features/functions on IBM Z

• Provide tuning & performance optimizations suggestion to improve performance.

• Participate in capacity planning activities to ensure optimal utilization of resources with high throughput.

• Debugging client performance issues and providing feedback on optimal resource usage.

• Experience with deploying, tuning and profiling applications running in Kubernetes environments

• Experience deploying applications on Kubernetes/Openshift

• Extensive experience with automation frameworks such as Ansible or Python/Scripting.

• Leading a team of 3-4 performance team members and assigning tasks and ensuring efficient workload distribution and mentoring the team.

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including developers, infrastructure teams to address performance issues and resolve them.

Required technical and professional expertise

• 10-15 years of experience in software performance engineering with very good understanding of fundamentals of containers and Kubernetes platform.

• Experience doing Performance Analysis, Performance Tuning & Performance Optimization

• Knowledge & Experience in using Performance Monitoring Tools like vmstat, netstat, iostat, nmon, topas, top etc

• Good understanding of Linux, Hypervisor & Virtualization concepts

• Good understanding of System Architecture

• Good understanding of Operating System concepts

• Experience with problem determination, root cause analysis and debugging in Kubernetes/OpenShift environment

• Experience leading and mentoring a team of performance engineers.

Preferred technical and professional experience

Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills.

• Must have an engineering mindset in addressing problems.

• Experience working in performance testing in Unix/Linux and Kubernetes/OpenShift environments.

• Strong communication and presentation skills.
