Introduction
  • We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Strategic project leader for Telecommunications and Network Services. This role is critical in managing a complex and rapidly evolving category that underpins our enterprise connectivity, digital infrastructure, and global operations.
  • The ideal candidate will bring deep domain expertise in telecom and network sourcing, a strong track record of negotiating with Tier 1 carriers and OEMs, and the ability to drive innovation, cost optimization, and risk mitigation across a diverse supplier landscape. This is a high-visibility role that requires strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and cross-functional leadership.
Your role and responsibilities
  • This role involves developing strategy and supporting procurement and sourcing initiatives for the unique demands of hyperscale environments, cloud-native architectures, and global connectivity. In this position you will be responsible for negotiating with top-tier telecom and network providers to support our data centers, cloud platforms, and enterprise communications. Your work will directly impact our ability to deliver high-performance, low-latency, and cost-effective services to customers worldwide.
  • Develop and execute a sourcing strategy for telecom and network services that supports cloud infrastructure, edge computing, and global enterprise connectivity.
  • Lead negotiations for high-value contracts with global carriers, ISPs, and OEMs for services such as dark fiber, IP transit, SD-WAN, DIA, 5G, and private backbone networks.
  • Collaborate with cloud engineering and infrastructure teams to align sourcing with cloud deployment models (e.g., hybrid, multi-cloud) and network performance requirements.
  • Manage a diverse supplier base including hyperscale partners, regional carriers, and network hardware vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Arista).
  • Drive cost savings and performance improvements through competitive sourcing, contract consolidation, and innovative commercial models (e.g., usage-based pricing, burstable bandwidth).
  • Ensure compliance with global telecom regulations, data sovereignty laws, and cybersecurity standards across all network-related contracts.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends such as network virtualization (NFV), software-defined networking (SDN), and satellite connectivity to inform sourcing decisions.
  • Partner with Legal, CIO, Finance, Security, and Engineering teams to ensure sourcing strategies align with technical, financial, and risk management goals.

Required technical and professional expertise
  • 10+ years of strategic sourcing or procurement experience, with at least 10 years in telecom/network categories within a technology or cloud services environment.
  • Deep understanding of global network architectures, cloud interconnects, and telecom infrastructure.
  • Proven success negotiating complex, global telecom contracts and managing multi-vendor ecosystems.
  • Strong financial modeling, commercial negotiation, and contract management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • Experience with top tier carrier billing and service models

Preferred technical and professional experience
  • Experience supporting hyperscale data center or cloud infrastructure sourcing.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking (e.g., AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute, Google Cloud Interconnect).
  • Knowledge of telecom regulatory frameworks (e.g., FCC, GDPR, ITU)
