As a Security Consultant, you will be a key advisor for IBM’s clients, analysing business requirements to design and implement the best security solutions for their needs. You will apply your technical skills to find the balance between enabling and securing the client's organisation with the cognitive solutions that are making IBM the fastest growing enterprise security business in the world.

Your role and responsibilities

The Security IAM Architect will serve as a subject matter expert in designing and overseeing enterprise-scale identity and access management (IAM) architectures. This role involves developing strategic IAM roadmaps, leading architectural design efforts, ensuring solution alignment with security and business objectives, and guiding complex IAM implementations. The ideal candidate has extensive experience across multiple IAM domains (e.g., identity governance, privileged access, customer identity) and is capable of translating business requirements into scalable, secure, and compliant IAM architectures.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead the architecture and design of IAM solutions across identity lifecycle, access controls, federation, and privileged access, aligning with enterprise security and compliance standards.
  • Develop and maintain IAM reference architectures, technical roadmaps, and integration patterns across IT and OT environments.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders to understand business objectives and translate them into secure IAM designs and strategies.
  • Assess current-state identity architectures, identify gaps, and propose improvements or transformational initiatives.
  • Provide architectural oversight for IAM implementations, ensuring secure design, technical scalability, and alignment to standards.
  • Define architectural guardrails and principles for identity governance, authentication, authorization, and access provisioning.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including security, infrastructure, cloud, and application teams, to ensure cohesive IAM integration.
  • Lead workshops and technical deep-dives, offering guidance on product selection, integration models, and deployment strategies.
  • Establish best practices and design patterns for IAM, including user onboarding, role management, access reviews, and privileged access control.
  • Provide technical mentorship to engineering and consulting teams across IAM platforms such as SailPoint, CyberArk, Okta, ForgeRock, or Azure AD.
  • Support audit and compliance efforts, ensuring that IAM architecture meets regulatory and organizational requirements.

Required technical and professional expertise
  • Engineer B.Tech., B.E, MCA, M.Sc. IT.(Mandatory either of these)
  • 12+ years of experience in IAM Architecture Design, IAM Consulting, Identity and Access Governance, Privileged Access Management experience
  • Specialised on: IBM IAM Products like SailPoint, Saviynt, Okta, EntraID, CyberArk, BeyondTrust
  • Proven experience as a IAM security professional in client-facing role, preferably in the field of identity and access management.
  • Familiarity with related technologies such as SSO (Single Sign-On), multi-factor authentication (MFA), and identity federation.
  • Experience with identity and access management (IAM) frameworks, protocols, and standards (e.g., OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML).
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing IAM solutions in complex enterprise environments.
  • Experience in managing operations in large IAM implementations
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Extensive experience designing and implementing enterprise IAM solutions, covering identity lifecycle, authentication, authorization, federation, identity governance, and privileged access management.
  • Expert knowledge of IAM protocols and standards, including SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect, LDAP, SCIM, and Kerberos.
  • Strong architecture and solution design skills, with the ability to create scalable, secure, and resilient IAM architectures aligned with business and regulatory requirements.
  • Hands-on expertise across leading IAM platforms, such as SailPoint, CyberArk, ForgeRock, Okta, Azure AD, and Ping Identity.
  • Proven ability to lead IAM transformations, from current-state assessments and roadmapping to full-scale design and implementation across cloud, on-prem, and hybrid environments.
  • In-depth understanding of security frameworks and compliance standards, including NIST CSF, SOCI, AESCSF, ISO 27001, and Zero Trust architecture.
  • Experience integrating IAM with cloud platforms and SaaS applications, including AWS, Azure, GCP, and M365 ecosystems.
  • Ability to define and enforce architectural principles, security guardrails, and governance for identity services at scale.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the capability to communicate complex technical concepts to business leaders and influence security decisions.
  • Experience mentoring and guiding technical teams, establishing design patterns and standards, and driving adoption of IAM best practices.
  • Comfortable working in Agile/DevOps environments, supporting IAM-as-a-service models, infrastructure as code, and automated provisioning.
Preferred technical and professional experience
  • Professional Qualifications - Desired – Any Certification in cyber security like CISSP, CISP.
  • Deep understanding of IAM concepts including directory services, federation (SAML, OIDC, OAuth), IGA, PAM, and identity lifecycle.
  • Experience designing and deploying IAM solutions in hybrid or multi-cloud environments (Azure AD, AWS IAM, GCP).
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance drivers such as SOCI, NIST, ISO, GDPR, and Zero Trust architectures.
  • Proven background in developing secure, scalable, and highly available IAM architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with IAM tools such as SailPoint, CyberArk, Okta, ForgeRock, Azure AD, Ping Identity, or similar platforms.
  • Strong documentation, diagramming, and communication skills, with ability to present to both technical and executive audiences.
  • Certification in relevant technologies (e.g., SailPoint IIQ Architect, CyberArk Defender/Sentry, Azure Security Engineer) is highly regarded..
