Your role and responsibilities

• Architect the premiere hybrid cloud and AI platform for IBM CIO, showcasing IBM and Red Hat technologies solving for IBM’s internal use cases, including improved efficiency of hybrid cloud adoption and promotion of continuous delivery.
  • Develop and maintain the enterprise’s hybrid cloud and network architecture framework and align IT infrastructure strategies with business goals, focusing on scalability, performance, and security.
  • Establish architecture principles, best practices, and standards to guide technology decisions.
  • Oversee the design and optimization of WAN, LAN, WLAN, and hybrid cloud platforms together with evaluating emerging technologies and recommend solutions to enhance operational efficiency and scalability.
  • Drive automation strategies for network provisioning, monitoring, and management.
  • Ensure compliance with architectural governance, regulatory standards, and security policies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure architectural changes are aligned with compliance requirements.
  • Partner with IT leaders, business units, and external vendors to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Communicate architectural vision and roadmaps to executive teams and stakeholders.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration to ensure seamless delivery of IT initiatives.
  • Mentor and guide architects and technical teams in design methodologies and problem-solving.
  • Build a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide thought leadership on hybrid cloud and network architecture trends.
  • Develop a technical strategy for infusing AI within our platform operations
  • Engage with and coordinate key technology stakeholders to build new platform features into a consolidated hybrid cloud roadmap
  • Engage and coordinate with CIO Enterprise Architecture and other CIO Domain Architects to integrate hybrid cloud and AI platform services to an aligned portfolio across CIO, and to ensure IBM business needs are met
  • Develop business cases toward usage of new IBM and Red Hat products for hybrid cloud, prioritized to align with IBM’s focus on hybrid cloud and AI
  • Lead the architectural practice for CIO Hybrid Cloud Platforms that include private cloud data center infrastructure strategy and design such as distributed (x86/Power), IBM Z, storage, and networking
  • Be the key technical decision maker for our network and hybrid cloud platform
  • Coordinate the creation and maintenance of hybrid cloud platform architectural assets within IBM CIO
  • Rapidly prototype IBM and Red Hat technologies to drive ideation across the broader CIO Hybrid Cloud Platforms team
  • Mentor team members in technical topics and the practice of architecture
  • Influence future product capabilities based on “Client Zero” needs
  • Provide technical and project direction in the resolutions of issues, roadblocks; mitigation of risks and stakeholder communication and management.
  • Foster effective teamwork culture; strong focus on growing talents and expanding technical capabilities.• Customer-focused approach, with the ability to understand user problems and deliver solutions that enhance End user experience and application performance.

Required technical and professional expertise

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field
• 10+ years demonstrated experience architecting modern cloud services across a broad range of technologies - physical, virtual, and hyperscaler clouds
• 5+ years of direct implementation experience with Kubernetes-based cloud platforms such as Red Hat OpenShift
• Experience working in an IT architecture leadership role in a large enterprise
• Deep technical knowledge of current network technologies, hardware, protocols, and standards.
• Deep understanding of edge network dependencies on centralized services such as authentication, DDI and orchestration/automation.
• Hands-on experience in one or multiple network domains, including Campus/Lan/Wifi, Wan, FW, PoP etc...
• Experience in scripting languages, software defined network automation, SDN controllers for network automation tasks.
• Advanced knowledge of WAN, LAN, WLAN, and software-defined networking (SDN).
• Experience with On-Premises and Cloud-based controllers/management platforms
• Strong proficiency in automation tools (e.g., NSO, Ansible, Terraform) and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
• Expertise in network security protocols, zero-trust architecture, and encryption technologies.
• Proven ability to align IT architectures with business goals, balancing cost, performance, and risk.
• Skilled in designing scalable, secure, and interoperable solutions for enterprise environments.

• Strong understanding of networking, cloud services (IBM, AWS, Azure, GCP), data center operations, and virtualization technologies.
• Broad knowledge of major cloud technologies including virtualization, containers, networking, etc. on different cloud platforms• Experience working in a fast-paced, diverse culture excelling in continuous delivery

Preferred technical and professional experience

• Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
• Certifications / demonstrated knowledge with software defined networking technologies.
• Passion for leadership, matched by the ability to inspire your team to understand business objectives, solve customer problems, and deliver measurable outcomes
• Possess confident analytical, creative, problem-solving, critical thinking, and empathetic interpersonal skills that earn trust with others to work through constructive friction for an aligned path forward
• Broad subject matter expertise across cloud computing, physical and virtual infrastructure, data center and IT operations, applications, enterprise architecture, data management, and cloud governance models with ability to advise on industry-leading approaches
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to interact with both technical teams and executive stakeholders.
• Proven track record of driving automation and network optimization initiatives.
• Occasional on-call coverage during weekends to support internal Teams in case of high severity incidents.• Flexible working hours based on Business Demand
