Your role and responsibilities

A member of the Program Management Organization responsible for assigned development activities in a specialized work group in support of offerings. DCT leaders are encouraged to be an IBM certified project manager, a Project Management Professional by PMI, or have the equivalent experience.

  • Runs the DCT with core team members from Development and Support. Inclusion of additional product delivery and support aspects should be included as needed: Procurement, Manufacturing, Service, etc...
  • Note: For SW Offerings: This is typically run as a Development Scrum of Scrums.
  • Works with key development/architect leads to coordinate and track the resolution of key issues. May drive the resolution as needed.
  • Owns, manages, and tracks detailed development project schedules and deliverables. Key Offering Milestones are provided to the Offering Team for inclusion in the related Offering Playbacks.
  • Supports the commitments made by Offering Team.
  • Is a member of the Offering Team meeting, as the DCT focal point.
  • Interlocks, makes, manages, and delivers on scope, schedule, cost, and quality commitments in support of the Commitment and Launch Playbacks.
  • Identifies, manages, tracks, and communicates: Schedule, quality, cost and risk issues to development management and the Offering Team.Design Change Requests (DCRs): Are managed by development process / DCT
  • Plan Change Requests (PCRs): Are managed by the Offering Team and DCT leaders provide input and assessment on PCRs
  • Assesses, manages, tracks, and reports on team risks and mitigation plans.
  • Communicates Offering Team issues/decisions to the DCT Members.
  • Responsible to plan and monitor the execution of the development related Offering Deliverables for a specific project.
  • There are over 40 Offering Deliverables which include but not limited to Compliance, Regulatory, Legal, OSSC, licensing, PSRB, etc. Specific guidance is available on the Offering Deliverables Wiki for each of them along with the guidance of roles and responsibilities.

  • Mentors the other Project Managers and/or functional team leads.
  • Ensures Development Level audit compliance and is a focal point for audits.
  • Working with Service and Manufacturing, make sure product is developed with appropriate serviceability and manufacturing considerations.

The Storage Project manager demonstrates the basic Project Management skills of Leadership, Communication, Schedule planning, Risk Management, Cost Management, Negotiating and Quality Management among other duties. They work in a collaborative environment using Agile and Design Thinking tools to understand stakeholder requirements and deliver high quality hardware and software solutions from within the Storage portfolio.

Preferred technical and professional experience
  • Familiarity or background with IBM Storage, Power, and Z technology
  • Technical breadth in IBM Infrastructure offerings
  • Ability to collaborate and influence across Storage Systems Development, Systems Assurance and other ORGs.
