Your Role and ResponsibilitiesAs a Site Reliability Engineer for the CIO Hybrid Cloud Z Platform & Strategy Team, you will maintain, support, and help to enhance multiple aspects of the Z environment including, z/OS Storage Management, z/OS Performance, Capacity, and Networking tools. You will maintain, support and help to enhance the multi-technology monitoring and automated remediation systems which support all IBM’s internal applications and systems. You’ll have the opportunity to identify points of improvement in technical processes and propose new ways to do it through automation, help our customer to resolve their pain points and, through co-creation, define solutions that allow improving the efficiency of their operations. Your primary responsibilities include:
Provide technical support using problem determination and problem source
identification skills; - Utilize technical and negotiation skills in collaboration with other support
- operations/organizations to prioritize and diagnose problems to resolution;
- Recommend and implement optimization and automation to existing technical
- support tools, procedures, and processes and implement new tools;
- Provide training for and mentor others on the team

- Deep knowledge in z/OS and z Storage support and demonstrate deep knowledge of
- OS and zOS Storage in mainframe environment;
- Experience in Cloud Infrastructure and Knowledge of Network technologies;
- Be able to solve complex problems and have living experience in installation,
- configuration, high availability, root cause analysis, performance tuning, and
- security & compliance activities;
- Experience in working with global teams, with people from several locations;
- Autonomy to work without supervision, targeting to achieve agreed-upon goals and
- with innovative mindset;
- Lead z/OS system design discussions, plan and implement;
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- REXX programming experience;
- Ansible experience on Mainframe;
- Zowe, ZOAU, R3S knowledge;
- Other zOS Middleware (DB2, IMS) or Base/Storage/TWS/Network/Netview
- systems management/support experience;
- Experience in automation and execution of tests/automation of new workloads;
- Basic understanding of container technology and tools such as Docker, Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift
