Your Role and Responsibilities
The CMS Data and Synthesis Lead will lead a team to run predictive modeling that could help CMS to know if a proposed program is likely to yield cost savings to the federal government. This role requires a combination of data analytics expertise, Federal Healthcare consulting experience, leadership qualities, and direct experience utilizing T-MSIS data sets. Role will be responsible both for conducting and delivering analysis, as well as leading other data analysts/actuaries. Experience leading a technical delivery team is required.

This role will lead the project team in synthesizing data to make actionable recommendations, utilizing T-MSIS Analytic Files (TAF) in the CMS environment. The Lead role should have experience with T-MSIS data, along with a background analyzing Medicaid claims, encounters, and enrollment data. Familiarity/exposure to Medicaid data in the CMS Chronic Conditions Data Warehouse (CCW) and the Integrated Data Repository (IDR) is necessary, and familiarity with other data sources such as ResDAC, Explorys, and MarketScan is a plus.

This is a Lead role and will require close coordination with Project leadership and the IBM project team, needing strong communication skills. In addition, this role will be client facing and requires a staff member with strong communication/presentation skills to summarize the task results and work to and with the end client.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 10+ years direct experience working with CMS data sets, including T-MSIS datasets
  • 10+ years experience utilizing data analytics for Federal Healthcare projects
  • 5+ years experience as a task lead/project lead with oversight of and responsibility for staff & deliverables
  • Expertise in common analytic data tools, including SAS, R, Python, etc.
  • Background analyzing Medicaid claims, encounters, and enrollment data (10+ years)
  • Familiarity with State 1115 Demonstrations process (1+ years)
  • Familiarity/exposure (2+ years) to Medicaid data in the CMS Chronic Conditions Data Warehouse (CCW) and the Integrated Data Repository (IDR)
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (10+ years in consulting environments)


Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Direct experience with State 1115 Demonstrations (1+ years)
  • Expertise (5+ years) with Medicaid data in the CMS Chronic Conditions Data Warehouse (CCW) and the Integrated Data Repository (IDR)
