Introduction
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Technical Sales Specialist to join the watsonx Americas team. As a Band 7 Technical Sales Specialist, you will be responsible for working closely with clients to understand their technical needs and develop tailored solutions using IBM’s products and technologies. Your primary goal will be to increase the number of Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) extended to clients, while creating repeatable technical assets that improve IBM’s win rate and time to providing client value.

Your Role and Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of IBM’s products and technologies, including watsonx, Cloud, and other relevant offerings.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their technical requirements and develop tailored solutions using IBM’s products and technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and engineering, to develop and execute sales strategies and campaigns.
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities to create repeatable technical assets that can improve IBM’s win rate and time to providing client value.
  • Design and develop technical assets, such as PoCs, MVPs, and demos, that showcase IBM’s products and technologies.
  • Work with the sales team to develop and execute technical sales strategies, including developing sales materials and presenting to clients.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to clients, including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, and apply this knowledge to develop innovative solutions for clients.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop and maintain technical sales content, including sales sheets, data sheets, and other marketing materials.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key clients and stakeholders, including providing exceptional customer service and support.


Required Technical and Professional Expertise
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in technical sales, sales engineering, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of IBM’s products and technologies, including watsonx, Cloud, AI, and other relevant offerings.
• Proven experience in developing and executing technical sales strategies, including creating repeatable technical assets.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in technical sales, sales engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies and DevOps practices.
• Certification in a relevant technical field, such as IBM Certified Application Developer or IBM Certified Solution Advisor.
• Experience with cloud-based technologies
