Introduction
At IBM, work is more than a job – it’s a calling: To build. To design. To code. To consult. To think along with clients and sell. To make markets. To invent. To collaborate. Not just to do something better, but to attempt things you’ve never thought possible. Are you ready to lead in this new era of technology and solve some of the world’s most challenging problems? If so, lets talk.

Your Role and Responsibilities
At IBM Research, we invent things that matter to the world. Today, we are pioneering the most promising and disruptive technologies that will transform industries and society. Our scientists are charting the future of artificial intelligence, driving breakthroughs like quantum computing that will allow us to process information in entirely new ways, leading global industries in advancing the capabilities of semiconductors, and taking on the most daunting challenges across what we have coined “hard tech.”. With more than 3,000 researchers in 12 labs located across six continents, IBM Research is one of the world’s largest and most influential corporate research labs.
Are you passionately up to date on emerging trends in technology? Can you translate complex ideas into simple, clear, and intuitive communication? Do you act with an urgency that says the work matters — because it does? If yes, let’s talk.
We are seeking an experienced technical writer and editor to join our team of professionals crafting how the world experiences the innovative work coming out of IBM and its research labs. We’re bridging the gap between the science and the story, and driving narratives across our content portfolio, including blogs, video scripts, social media material, and presentations.
Working closely with IBM researchers and the broader IBM Research marketing and communications team, and reporting to the Editor-in-chief, your work will include translating complex technical and scientific concepts into engaging, inspiring articles for a technical audience. You will write and help edit stories about our researchers, their innovative bodies of work, and our labs across the globe. In a writer, we’re seeking a creator with passion and demonstrated experience delivering projects with real impact that communicate in a way that excites and engages on any platform. The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication skills and an open ear. As part of a broader communications and content function, you will develop a keen understanding of the work happening both inside of IBM and across the competitive landscapes of hybrid cloud, AI, quantum computing, and scientific research. You’ll be able to speak to audiences from all knowledge levels, from the general public to subject experts.
Everything you create builds upon the core story of IBM and its rich and successful history of research, always focused on inventing what’s next.

• A sharp editor who can boil technical stories down into clear, succinct, and interesting stories that keep audiences engaged and educated.
• Strong project management skills, with a commitment to being highly organized and a determination to meet deadlines.
• Experience collaborating well across various stakeholders to ensure the information we develop is accurate, consistent, high-quality, and communicated internally and externally.
• A drive to keep learning and take feedback from editors and subject matter experts.
• The ability to synthesize complex technologies, products, and market challenges with a timely knowledge of emerging and enterprise technologies and key industry players.
