Your role and responsibilities

As an Insurance Industry Consultant within IBM Consulting, you will help leading insurers transform their business models, processes, and technology landscapes. You will work at the intersection of business strategy, digital transformation, and emerging technologies such as AI, cloud, data analytics, automation, and platform modernization.

Your role is to support clients in achieving operational efficiency, improving customer experience, enabling data‑driven decisions, and shaping new digital insurance products and services.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with insurance clients (Life, Non‑Life, Health, Brokers) to understand business challenges, strategic priorities, and transformation needs.

• Analyze core insurance processes such as underwriting, policy administration, claims, distribution, pricing, and customer engagement to identify optimization opportunities.

• Support the design and implementation of digital transformation programs enabled by AI, analytics, cloud, automation, and ecosystem integration.

• Collaborate with IBM solution architects and technical teams to translate business requirements into functional and technical solutions.

• Contribute to business case development, ROI analysis, and value realization tracking for transformation initiatives.

• Conduct assessments, benchmarking, and current‑state analysis to define target operating models for insurers.

• Support proposal development, client workshops, and executive presentations.

• Facilitate stakeholder alignment, managing client expectations and ensuring clear communication across multidisciplinary teams.

• Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory developments, insurtech innovations, and competitive landscape.

• Contribute to IBM thought leadership through points of view, industry papers, and internal knowledge assets.

Required technical and professional expertise

- Experience in insurance related transformation projects

Experience as a consultant or business analyst in the insurance industry, or in a consulting role focused on insurance.

• Strong understanding of insurance business models, key processes, regulatory landscape, and market trends.

• Knowledge of digital transformation topics, including AI, cloud, data analytics, automation, and platform modernization.

• Ability to gather business requirements, map processes, perform gap analyses, and support solution design.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data and insights into actionable recommendations.

• Excellent communication skills, with experience presenting to business and technical stakeholders.

• Ability to work collaboratively in cross‑functional teams across consulting, technology, and delivery.

• Fluency in English; additional languages depending on location are a plus.
