Duties
Role:
The Communications Advisor produces communications documents for both an external, public audience and an internal, employee audience. They may be required to provide advice and guidance to senior officials on communications involving operational policing matters.Key responsibilities:
• planning and supporting the development and implementation of communications products for a diverse range of internal and external target audiences;
• writing, coordinating, managing, producing, and disseminating communications plans and products inwritten and digital (including online and social media) formats, regarding police operations and other matters concerning public safety.
• providing communications advice to senior management, partners, and stakeholders;

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The RCMP in New Brunswick (RCMPNB) is the provincial police service that serves communities across the province, including many Indigenous communities. The Strategic Communications Unit plays a crucial role in informing and engaging audiences on topics related to RCMPNB operations, policing services, and personal and public safety.Providing strategic communications in a policing environment is a challenging role that is not suited for everyone. It requires individuals who can think clearly under pressure and handle sensitive or controversial material. This includes emotionally difficult subject matter. • continuous learning and developmentThe Strategic Communications Unit currently includes a senior manager, two senior communication advisors, two communication advisors, and one media relations officer. The unit reports directly to the division’s Commanding Officer.Full-time telework is not currently supported for this position due to the nature of the work. Employees in this unit may be considered for a hybrid work arrangement based on operational needs and completion of training. The office requires that employees working in this unit report to the RCMPNB Headquarters in Fredericton, NB.
Intent of the process
"The immediate need is to staff 1 position on an indeterminate basis. A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP on an indeterminate basis or specified period (including term, acting appointments or assignments). This pool may also be used to staff similar positions, with various language and security requirements.Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS)

A degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in communications, public relations, media studies, journalism or other field related to the position or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience**. Notes:
