About the position

Duties
The work will involve participating in data collection on fields, crops, soils, animals, trees and biodiversity, processing and analyzing data including georeferenced data, using and managing a database, writing reports and scientific papers, and presenting results in events.
Work environment
This work is part of a research program on a transition experiment of an agricultural system. The work will consist of developing tools for agroecosystem analysis and indicators for the assessment of agroecological performance of a an integrated crop-livestock system. The student will be supervised by a researcher and a research assistant based at the Sherbrooke Research and Development Centre (Quebec).AAFC is committed to diversity and inclusion. Possession of a valid driver’s licence or personal mobility to the degree normally associated with a valid driver’s licence.
Ability and willingness to work in fields and in barns.

Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following
Education*:
Currently enrolled or will be enrolled by the date of appointment in a Ph.D. program at a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in plant science. The applicant must possess a Master’s degree in biology from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in agronomy, animal or plant sciences, or agroecology.Note: Must be currently recognized as having full-time student status in the academic institution in which you are presently enrolled, pending approval of acceptance or in the process of submitting your application. Proof of enrollment will be required prior to start date and the student must be returning to full-time studies for your next academic term.

Experience:
Experience* using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
Experience* using statistical software (e.g. SAS, R).
Experience* using GIS software (e.g. QGIS, ArcGIS).
Experience* using database management (e.g. Git, SQL).
Experience* collecting and analyzing data.
Experience* in writing scientific reports or articles.*In the context of student recruitment in the Federal Public Service, the experience can be acquired through studies, work experience, or volunteer activities.
