About the position

Duties
PrairiesCan focuses on creating a diversified western Canadian economy with strong, competitive and innovative businesses. Our CO-03 management team is responsible for nurturing networks, collaborating with partners and stakeholders, leading teams and delivering operational results. A position with PrairiesCan allows you to be part of a small, nimble department that has a broad mandate to work on a variety of economic development activities.We are looking for an engaged leader and program manager who will be responsible for supporting the Director General in every aspect of program development and delivery, including providing advice on economic development opportunities and challenges in Saskatchewan, in the Prairies and nationally, and follow through on numerous complex program policy and project issues. In this position, you will advise on continuous improvement of our programs, communicate with management on ways to drive results forward, and suggest financial and business tactics for a higher return on investment from grants & contributions. This position supports the Director General to provide the effective and efficient delivery of federal economic development programs and services across Saskatchewan and is an integral part of PrairiesCan Saskatchewan’s senior leadership team.If you are a highly motivated individual with excellent communication, financial and analytical skills, and are interested in being a part of a leadership team leading Prairies economic development, we encourage you to apply.

Intent of the process
This is an anticipatory process. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level. This process may be used for various tenures (including but not limited to term and indeterminate appointments, internal assignments, secondments, deployments, acting appointments, casual), as well as various security requirements, language and conditions of employment.

Operational Requirements

• Ability and willingness to report to a PrairiesCan office a minimum of 3 days per week per the Direction on Prescribed Presence for the Government of Canada.
• Ability and willingness to work overtime.

Education:Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position.

Experience:
• Experience with grants and contributions contract management (i.e. negotiating loan repayment arrangements or contract amendments.)
• Experience developing operating budgets and forecasting.
• Experience preparing briefing materials and providing strategic advice to senior management.
• Experience in the management of human and financial resources.
• Experience in the design, development and/or implementation of economic development projects and/or programs involving multiple stakeholders.
