Conditions of employment

Possession of a valid class 5 Alberta driver’s license or other provincial/territorial equivalency.
Ability and willingness to work overtime including evenings and weekends.
Ability and willingness to perform physically demanding work activities including moderate to heavy manual labour requiring bending and lifting heavy objects (up to 23kg).
Ability and willingness to control allergies through the use of personal protective equipment and/or medication and this must not impinge upon the duties to be performed.
Ability and willingness to work in a field environment.
Ability and willingness to work under various environmental and weather conditions.
Ability and willingness to obtain a pesticide applicator license.

You need (essential for the job)

Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following
Experience:
Experience operating agricultural equipment*.
Experience performing basic maintenance on agricultural equipment*.(*) Agricultural equipment includes (among other things): tractor, cultivator, combine, swather, potato digger.
Applied / assessed at a later date
Knowledge:
Knowledge of farming methods, practices and principles.
Competencies:
Adaptability
Concern for Safety
Teamwork
Abilities:
Ability to do basic calibration processes on equipment such as seeders or fertilizer applications.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations and maintain records.

Language requirements (essential for the job)

Possession of a valid Pesticide Applicator License.
Experience:
Experience working in an agricultural research setting.
Experience operating irrigation equipment (e.g. pivots, pumps, running wheel movers).
